Hello, My name is Sharon Ruth I live in NH with my husband Mark and I have just enrolled in the MaryJane's sisterhood connection (pronounced Sista Hood, in New England, :-) I love to bake, sew, quilt, crochet, tate, paint, draw, and all things crafting. Even interior designing.

I am new to gardening and I have tried to garden on my property with little success. I had chickens in the past but had a hawk that got to them so before I will get more I want to build an enclosed coop which will mean they will have limited free range. I enjoy riding my own motorcycle that relieves stress, it's a moment of peace and pure serenity.

I work full time and I am a sociology student with an associates degree in human services, and I have been accepted to SNHU for my bachelor's in Jan. I am in the process of developing my homestead little village farm, and plan for livestock come spring. I have a lot to learn before jumping into a life long dream and true passion of mine.

I am looking forward to chatting, sharing, and growing my little village farm through some good tips and advice from the sisterhood. I am also interested in possibly starting a chapter in town and if anyone can suggest forums or have any tips please share and also feel free to email me too.

The truth is I was born a Southern Belle who lives in a Northern world, dying for the farm life. I really look forward to making new online friends "Sista's) and learning about you, your creativity, ideas and your passions too:-)

Sweet Blessings

Sharon Ruth

Thank you for the welcome Nicole. I haven't been online much and starting to get back in the groove some family time was needed and I have now been able to have some me time. I can't wait for the spring and summer months so I can start my plans of building my homestead

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your posts.

I am also a New Englander originally from the south. I have been here on the East Coast over twenty years.

Our chickens are in an enclosed coop, too, or they would be eaten in 60 seconds flat! Lots of hawks. Keeping a radio on inside the coop area keeps away other animals, as well.

I had to learn how to garden in a new area with a different kind of climate than I grew up in, too. Now, twenty years later, I am a Certified Master Gardener. I love that we have four seasons, though our growing season is shorter.

Welcome to the sisterhood!

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Yes, whatever we call ourselves, this is a welcoming and warm group. We are all farmgirls in some sense of the word, from big-time homesteading to Canadian cattle ranching, to suburban gardeners to urban rooftop container-tenders. The main thing is that we are in a caring and positive environment where helping one another is the byword. Welcome welcome welcome. I know you will find some great friends here.

Started my facebook page group Britchesandbra's and my blog will be coming up soon too at www.britchesandbras.com just about finished and will be posting my first blog post. My new shed shop has arrived, and the new greenhouse is being built this weekend. Winter is coming so the homestead plans will be coming to a halt soon for snowfall and winter hibernation. Come spring the action begins.

Hi Marie and Judith
Thank you for the welcoming I'm looking forward to being a member and so far so good. Yes I'm pretty busy most of the time and try to stay that way for the most part. If I'm not busy I seem to get anxious. I think I was so busy all the time when my kids were growing up that when they moved out on their own I didn't know what to do. I have never had so much me time before #128512;

Welcome Sharon Ruth to the Sistahood (some have called us a cult). You sound busier than I am. There is so much wisdom here I am certain the answer to any question is here.
