Posted - Feb 08 2012 : 09:41:38 AM Hi Emily,
Have you talked to either of your libraries about either purchasing the book or using interlibrary loan to borrow it from another library system? I noticed that York County has a good collection of books by Candace Savage, they might be interested in purchasing it. Let me know at meritbadges@maryjanesfarm.org what you find out!

Posted - Feb 02 2012 : 8:09:13 PM As per the requirements for the badge, Kidd's book is required for the beginner level and Savage's book is required for the intermediate level. Sounds Like Emily is needing Savage's book for the intermediate level. CJ

Posted - Feb 02 2012 : 6:51:24 PM Are you thinking of the book by Sue Monk Kidd called "The Secret Life of Bees"? Candace Savage wrote a book called, "Bees: Nature's Little Wonders". Possibly a cross-pollination of book title and author could be the issue at the library. "Honeybee Democracy" by Thomas Seeley is also an awesome book, albeit a bit more scholarly. "A Book of Bees" is an awesome novel by Sue Hubbell about a female beekeeper.

Posted - Feb 02 2012 : 4:30:05 PM Thanks CJ, I am just a penny pincher and I was hoping that I would be able to get it through either york or adams county libraries.
The next thing on my list would be to check the University of Pittsburgh Library when I am in Pittsburgh in two months
The book I listed seemed comperable and available to me.

Posted - Feb 02 2012 : 3:09:09 PM Hi Emily, Were you not able to get that book through Amazon? I bought it (unfortunately it's out for a farmgirl in our Henhouse to read, or I'd loan it to you) from Amazon. Anyway, if you didn't direct your question to Chelsea at the farm that's who you need to ask.
I can tell you that Candace's book is one of the BEST books ever . . . I enjoyed it immensely and found it to be totally interesting. I highly recommend it.
Hope that helps a teeny bit! CJ
