Posted - Apr 29 2010 : 7:59:52 PM The doorbell rang twice today with a Fed Ex package, and each time I missed it and they didn't leave the box. I was so bummed and forced myself to have the patience to wait for tomorrow.
In the evening I went out for some errands and as I was backing out, I saw a box from the Postal Service. I picked it up and lo and behold, it was the very package I was waiting for!
I put the package on the back of my car in the garage and waited, like a child before Christmas, until the last person was asleep in the house. Then I snuck downstairs and tore open the package with such excitement, I almost had tears in my eyes!
My badge, my bumper sticker, my certificate, all the other things in the neat manila folder are so precious to me at this time in my life. They mean a chance to become self suffient, a chance to grow, a chance to make strong female connections, becoming a stronger woman and being able to provide for my family on my own means.
Thanks MaryJane, this means so much to me!

Posted - May 07 2010 : 5:15:58 PM Yay Eleanor! Welcome! Your description of receiving your package will so be me when I receive mine! Becoming a part of this means all the same things to me as well, you put it all very eloquently. I was born and raised a complete city girl, I have only lived in the country for a little over a year. It was strange and foreign, I think I would have faired better if I had moved to Paris! :) But now seeing what is around me, the history, the love, my perspective has changed. I now long for all the knowledge I can gain about living like all the women in my family before me, farmgirls. I will look forward to crossing your path in the future. Hugs, Sister #1473

Posted - Apr 29 2010 : 8:25:55 PM I too am waiting with baited breath for my goodies. I am glad to hear that the Farmgirl Sisterhood is giving you strength. I have only found this sight a week ago and have joined and read some great blogs. Click on some of the blogs that the sisters leave links to. They are fun and very informative. Helps you get to know what the Sisters are thinking and doing. Welcome Eleanor. Mel |
