I just thought of something, I bet Brian is going to love this when we all start submitting our badges at the same time. LOL!!!

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 09:09:49 AM I am new (don't even have my package yet from MJ yet), but I wanna play.
so how does this work? Do you set a challenge each month and folks can work toward the same badge at the same time. Or can you just pick any random badge and work on that whenver you want? |

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 08:34:04 AM First of all, don't panic :-) There is no reason to panic. Have fun!
And I should state here that my badge has not yet passed through final approval. I only just submitted it, so there is a possibility that it will not be approved.
I started with a basic pattern that I loved and redesigned some of the pieces to make it my own. I changed the shape, added the quilted pocket and put it together to fit myself - made the pieces smaller, put the straps closer together and made them shorter, etc.). I've made this pattern several times now and have finally gotten the design that I will probably continue to use. I modify the size according to the size of the final "wearer" of the apron. It would be very easy to add ruffles to this one - on the straps, around the bottom, around the the pockets, between the bodice and skirt, but I like it as it is. It has a very long tie in the back which is very cute. It's great fun to wear and I've even worn it to work on casual Fridays.
I'm also including a photo of the one that I made for a friend (cherries and gingham taken from the back).
Mine is the one with the witches and is taken from the front.

Because I'm vain and I like the way that this one turned out, I'm also including the apron that I made for the intermediate level. I did not modify the pattern for this one, but made it as it appears in the pattern book.

Hope this helps!

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 08:07:16 AM Hey Jonnie, out of curiosity, do you have a picture of the apron you designe for the Expert Badge? It's already kind of starting to panic me the thought of trying to "design" an apron.

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 08:05:49 AM Jonnie, did you design your expert level apron completely from scratch? I wondered if I could use elements from other patterns.

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 07:02:21 AM I'm in!! I've made lots of aprons, but haven't submitted any of them for badges. Yesterday I bought my lace and fabric for Valentines day aprons, so this will be a good badge to start working toward.
