Posted - Dec 06 2009 : 12:31:47 PM Okay so I am really wanting to plan a date (or several dates.. one in spring, one in summer, and one in the fall) where we have several locations where farmgirls can meet up and camp this year. Each outting would offer several locations for where gals could meet up. Example: If I were the host, then I would organize a place for where girls could come and stay here in Prosser, and while girls where here... there would also be a group of farmgirls meeting in CA, or OR, or New York. After the designated weekend we would come back to the "farmgirl connection" and share our experiences.
Meeting places could be someones farm, a local camping ground etc. It would be the hostess job to get all the details and make those available ( what it would cost, if they needed gals to bring their own food, or potluck or.....).... During the camp out the host would also offer 1 oppertunity for the sisters to earn a badge. Either by teaching a class that associates with the sisterhood badges, or having a park ranger etc come in and talk about native plants... or whatever...
While these events would be open to ALL farmgirls, it would be a "sisterhood" sponsored event. Each host would be required to be a sister, and the events of the camp out would be geared towards the sisterhood...
Whatcha all think? I suggest we make the April 23 weekend our first outting. I will host the one in my area.
Let's set a theme for the weekend. Let me know if you are interrested in hosting for your area that weekend.

Posted - Dec 09 2009 : 11:42:41 AM This sounds like fun! April may be a little early for some areas but the idea is to shift it around to all sorts of places, right? Heather

Posted - Dec 07 2009 : 08:23:25 AM Jim and I went camping at Palouse Fall, WA on April 6 (in our little vintage cab over camper) and it was lovely. We live near the Canadian border but we can start our camping adventures early by "going" south.Of course weather is a fickle thing and one never knows. JoAnn |

Posted - Dec 06 2009 : 10:38:40 PM Hey girls, Ok.. we can move the date out... throw out some ideas. Diana, I haven't done one of these yet, so we will see how many come out...Prosser is pretty centrally located in our state.. so I think it should be OK...
If we are looking at May that would be Ok. Of course we have farm fair in July... So..Put on your thinking caps and lets find a time that everyone likes.. Thanks for the interrest.

Posted - Dec 06 2009 : 8:00:26 PM I'd love to participate. I agree that April 23rd might be a bit early, especially for those of us who will have to use a tent.

Posted - Dec 06 2009 : 5:24:35 PM Super idea, Rene! I'm pretty sure I won't be heading out that far west just yet, but hope to one day! I'd enjoy organizing one here in Ohio, but I'm thinking April 23rd might be a little too early in the season here? Keep us posted, as I (finally!) have my little "Sweet Mother o' Pearl" travel trailer and am looking forward to camping season!
