I have a few questions about the sisterhood. Do you have to be part of a Farmgirl Chapter to join? What are the benefits of becoming part of the sisterhood? Can anyone be part of it?

Thanks,
Erin

I'm trying to calmly await my sisterhood packet. I did talk to Sunny today and she said it should be mailed next Mon., but she did give me my sister #. Anytime I have ever called the farm for an order they are so great, truly nice people.
Waiting, needle in hand,

The best of days ! The Office Sisterhood Member pack arrived in today's mail. Can't wait to start the path to earning merit badges and find a hen house. Tomorrow's project will be embrodiering the patch by adding a few vintage buttons sewn on fabric yo=yo's. Congrats to all the new Farmgirl Sisters and a big hug to those Sisters who guide us newbies.

Hi Kim-

To Join a Henhouse- Pick the one you would like to join and email sunny@maryjanesfarm.org I think it helps if you give a nice clear subject line because I know she is a busy gal!

The Discounts: Roughly once a month the farm puts together something fabulous for us Farmgirls! They send out an email to the one you registered your sisterhood membership/ forum name with, so make sure you keep the farm up-to-date on any email, or address changes :D

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We love to help out our Sisters around here!

I also recently joined and excitedly waiting for my packet. Looking at the numbers it looks like mine will arrive soon. Are there instructions in the packet about the discounts, joining a henhouse, and so on? Although you have lots of information through the website and the postings and I am still trying to take all of this in.

Sunny could you possible sent me the information also. I would appreciate it. Love this and what you have created.

Dawn.....I am right there with you! I live a pretty isolated life and MJ and the "sistas" are just what I needed in my life! they are awesome individuals and have made me feel so welcome and purposeful....whatever your interests or needs we are here for you! It is hard to watch your children "stumble" and not want to reach out and "help" but I think we are here to guide them and then let them go. The hard route of parenthood is not always the easy route but you are showing her that you trust her and you are giving her the message that you think she is capable. That's a powerful message! Oh..Rene...you said it best!
Whatever you need Dawn....I am sure you will find some form of it here! And I love your quote! I would have used it if I'd had it handy...I love Calamity Jane...read her biography when I was a "youngin" and thought she was SO COOL! I think I may embroider that saying and frame it....she was one of my role models...I really admire STRONG women! And it sounds like you are one of them! You Go Girlfriend! Oh...yes....the cobwebs...me too!

Dawn,
There you found us just in the right time for your life~ and I for one am so grateful that you did. Being a mom is tough stuff isnt it? Doing what is right for our kids isn't always the easiest thing for us always and yet somehow it all finds a way.

Lucky for you, I am in the need of another "sista" and I just love dorks! (LOL)...

Ya'll are so sweet....Okay gonna get sappy here. I live in an area where I have no one but my hubby. My daughter chose to live with her dad for the remaining 3 years of high schol because there is nothing to offer her here in teh way of academics. She wasnt challenged enough adn that let to boredom which led to trouble. I miss her so much and she's so far away... My dad's family is over 2 hours away and after my mom died last year that side just fell apart. I was honestly just drifting this past year until I fell across MJ Farm. Its goofy, but coming to this forum makes me feel whole. I dont really know anyone personally but you are all so supportive and I think its exactly what I need right now. Okay no more sappy, just HAPPY! Wanna know why? CUZ I'M A SISTA!! OH YEAH! I am such a dork....hehe.

Welcome Marly!

The Sisterhood is for all Sisters! You don't have to be able to knit- although there is a badge about learning to knit so maybe that would be a good one for you to pursue! I started knitting to get that badge and am really liking it!

I just signed up too... by the way, I think there IS a club for the guys, something to do with "cock & bull" stories told by a group of men, standing in a barn with their hands in their pockets discussing tractor parts. At least that's what happens around here! Surprised that any fields get fit in the spring!!! Cannot wait to get my packet. I'm more excited than a kid at Disney!!!

Reading all of the comments about sisterhood and its patches has gotten me all wild. I guess I'll join, too. However, I cannot knit. Do we have to knit something and send it in. I sure hope not. They'll kick me out of the sisterhood. Ha Ha. I can crochet. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks for the news. Keep up all the great work sisters.
