Wow! Almost 100 sisterhood members! Isn't this great?! I love how excited we all are to belong to something special like this! I never was in Girl Scouts or anything where I could earn awards like this, so the badges are extra special to me. And it is so nice to know there are so many other Sisters out there to share my excitement with!!

Greetings Farm Girls!

I'm number #109!! It feels so wonderful to find "like minded" women out there! Most of my working friends think I'm mad with my talk of gardens, live-stock, barns and chickens! LOL. But, hey...that's the STUFF OF LIFE! We've been on our farm for 1 year and 4 months. I love it. We now have 3 donkeys and 5 sheep w/babies coming in the spring. I think I died and went to heaven. Anyone out there from the Missouri area?
I can't wait to get my patch and wear it PROUDLY!

Carmen -- you only have to be a member of the forum to post. I joined in May 2005. Some of the gals that have been on less time than me have way more posts. The Farmgirl Sister thing is in addition to the forum membership. Does this make sense?

I'm a bit confused. I thought you had to be a farmgirl to post. So, Kay how can you have 2998 posts already? Yikes, that's about 200 a day from the day you must have joined. I'm 95 and I joined December 15 and couldn't post until less than a week ago. Congrats.

Has every one received their patches? I am number 41 and have not received mine yet. I am just wondering. I know with Christmas and all that things are crazy.

Diane - if it keeps raining like it is this morning, I too will live on an island. At least I hope we're in the high spot!

You can be a chapter of 1. Can you present it to yourself? LOL

I'm in the same boat Sherri...or maybe I should say I need a boat. Pretty hard to form a chapter when you live on an island!!
I think this problem will likely be addressed when MJ gets all the wrinkles ironed out though.

I also have a question - a lot of the merit badge steps require you to present something at your meeting - I have tried to get a chapter going here with no interest and there is no chapter for me to join. What do I do?

That's my thought, too, Tasha-Rose. I've pretty much been doing everything on the list for years and years. And you can trust me: I will not be trying for a badge in animal husbandry (human husbandry is trouble enough, thank you ) or tearing down a tractor and putting it back together again -- oh wait. I did that, too, in 1998, if a riding mower qualifies. (Sears Craftsman hunk o' junk that we got from my parents as a wedding present. *sigh*)

Perhaps there are some of us skilled and/or mellow enough to do this for the pure pleasure of hanging out together, which we already pretty much do right here -- but maybe it would be fun to have an excuse to hit consignment shops for a perfect jeans jacket to doll up with the main Farmgirl badge. Hmm. Let me think about this a while.

I have a question....do the girls under 18 need to also become members to be farmgirl mentored and earn badges? I was a tad confused by this...

ALSO-what if you do clean non toxically already and have been for quite some time-or use your clothesline, or what ever...how do you go about doing those things AGAIN (even though its an on-going lifestyle thing) to be able to earn the badges?
