Posted - Jan 03 2013 : 12:48:27 PM I picked up the book today. I hope to get time to read it. I have to finish another order for car washcloths, and then I can focus on it better.

Posted - Jan 01 2013 : 2:14:22 PM I think books are always better. Movies cut out so much. Our library is still closed for the holiday, so I hope to get a copy of the book soon.

Posted - Dec 28 2012 : 09:21:33 AM Well, it truly depicts that time and era. It does contain a bit of nudity and of course violence etc. It was a tough time for families to simply earn a paycheck. I can't imagine putting kids through those times and risking their lives for such a thing either. It's truly about how people in one community support each other when they are faced with a threat on their community. Despite their business.

Posted - Sep 17 2012 : 6:57:35 PM OK gals. I got the book and sat down and read the whole dang thing. I couldn't put it down. I just had to know what happened next. It is kind of strange because it goes between the time it happened and when there was a trial some years later. Wild stuff. Men, alchol, and money. Bad combo. Some of the paybacks are really nasty.
My Mom asked me if I liked the book. I don't really know what to say. But I had to know what happened next. It does fit the time frame.
If you have read it or seen the movie, what do you think?

Posted - Sep 14 2012 : 10:25:42 AM Me too. One of the characters gets his throat slashed and I don't think I could watch that. He lives thru iit, but that is too much for me. LOL
Plus there is nudity, and I won't watch that.

Posted - Sep 13 2012 : 10:55:26 AM It's on my list, too. The story sounds interesting to me, but I'm a real baby when it comes to on-screen violence so I think I might enjoy the book more than the film.
