Hi Farmgirls,

I could use a couple of prayers, and also explain where I've been.

I am usually on the forum much more often than I have been in the last several months. It's not that I wanted to miss out on all the good things here, it's that I have not had the energy like I did, until now, recently in the last month.

For the last year, since last May, I wasn't feeling my best. Went to the doctor, then sent to several specialists, but never felt better. Then in December, I really started to feel worse. Weird symptoms would come and go. I knew something was wrong. Since going organic and living such a healthy lifestyle the last few years, I knew there had to be more than what the doctors I was seeing were saying. I was bounced around from specialist to specialist. To make a very long story short, I finally got in with a Lyme specialist, a doctor my husband's client recommended. He's a doctor, md, do, but also believes in homeopathic as well. It took eight months to get an appointment. Guess what...yes, I am dealing with a type of Lyme disease, a very nasty form of the tick-borne illness. Doctors don't always test for all of what a tick can give you, so it was missed at first.

I'm a busy mom and farmgirl, but to add this exhausting disease with its laundry-list of symptoms that have come and gone for months left me too tired to really keep up with everything I wanted to do. I also did not want to say anything until I knew what I was dealing with, and being bounced from doctor to doctor was stressful. Many specialists wanted to just treat the symptoms, or treat their window of expertise (which is what they are trained to do) but were not finding the root cause. A few close friends and family know what I have been dealing with, and a few farmgirls here like sweet Nini know. She's been such a rock to me through this. I'm always the "Mother Hen", so it's not easy for me when I am the one not feeling well.

I have just finished treatment, a few weeks ago...a long round of antibiotics. I'm not out of the woods yet. I have to follow up more, but I can tell you that I am feeling back to my old self. The doctor is very happy with what he sees. I've been so productive and feel so much better this summer after seeing this new doctor. I'm my old self. I have to keep checking in with the doctor, as there could be some lasting effects from having gone untreated so long, but so far, I am on the right track and totally feel back to normal. :) Good news.

SO, I haven't forgotten all my farmsisters. I've just wasn't feeling well. I've missed you all! Let's keep fingers crossed that I am going to stay feeling good!

But, I could also use a prayer for my dad. My dear Daddy had his birthday and then ended up in the hospital the very next day! It was a scare, but was a very bad infection treated with antibiotics. He is home now but is still not back to normal. He is in his seventies. I am very worried. He keeps telling me not to come visit, that he wants us to wait until he is back to normal so we can do stuff, but he's frustrated that he isn't bouncing back like a spring chicken would. Good days and bad, but still not well. Would love some prayers sent his way, please.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Thanks, girls! I was disappointed that I started to feel poorly again, but I did have another tick bite late fall. My doctor fussed at me for not telling him! I took my round of antibiotics, and am on some good herbs, and feel better. My doctor says it can't take four months to bounce back completely, though I am doing much better.

Love my farmgirls! Thanks for praying for me!

Nicole

Thank you all. I didn't want to bother anyone but a few farmgirls were emailing me wondering where I was. Yup, not feeling right again. The stronger antibiotic was tough to take, but I am so far, feeling better than I was. Hopefully I am all done with this now!

Learned at a CTNOFA (organic farmer organization) winter conference to take 16 0z water in a spray bottle with 1 oz of oil of eucalyptus, and keep it by the door to spray on pets and clothes before going outside. Course, right now we don't have ticks yet as everything is still frozen. But what a good idea.

Anyway, I will keep you all posted. Think I am on the right track again.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Oh, Nicole... I was hoping you were completely healed and whole, and would never have to worry about this again.. I know this setback must be very difficult for you. Please know I'm praying. Try not to let this get you down. I know feeling so yucky after feeling so good must be depressing, but remember - you DID get better before! That's a HUGE deal, girlfriend! You also have a great doctor who really understands this disease, and that's ANOTHER huge deal! God made things come together for your good; He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, so you can trust that He will do it again! And again, and again, if need be! He loves you and is watching over you, He will never leave nor forsake you. And this time, your farmgirl sisters are praying for you, and counting on Him to heal you - that's ANOTHER huge deal! Keep the faith - you WILL get better! Good things WILL come! :) Love you, sister. Let's talk soon, okay? Big hugs - Nini

Oh Nicole! Most definitely praying! That is so difficult! If you "do herbs" at all, the owner of The Bulk Herb Store, Shoshanna, went through lyme's disease and has an herb mixture in her store that helps. Not sure if that would be something you are interested in, or not. http://www.bulkherbstore.com/Herban-Lyme-Away-Tea

Nicole, prayer offered up for your peace of mind and for healing.

One thing I have learned from living with MS is that stress will trigger fatigue and other symptoms. We can't always live stress free, but when it does occur extra rest, good nutrition, and positive thinking will help us through it. Asking God for an extra helping of his grace & mercy gets me through a lot of bad times.

Sending prayers your way, Nicole, for regaining your health again. I know how hard it is to take it easy as I am one of those who fight being sick in any way. Hopefully, the antibiotic therapy will get you back on track soon and feeling much better!!

Ugh. I wasn't feeling well again, and had to head back to my doctor. I hate being sick, or taking things slow! Anyway, I have been treated for my Lyme illness AGAIN. Apparently, it can lie dormant and be "brought back on" by stress. With my classes I am taking, and classes I am teaching, and burning the midnight oil, I was under the weather. I remember being bitten by a tick in early December, thinking it was awfully late for the critters. Definitely the same icky symptoms as last time.

So I am now off the antibiotic, but I could use some prayers that I can get rid of this Lyme bug for good, and get my system back in balance!

Do yourself a favor...take tick bites seriously and watch yourself in brush. I never wore long sleeves and pants because I would get too hot when I was clearing the brush on my property.

I'm "mama hen" and don't like taking it easy! But I also need to learn to not burn that midnight oil too much!

Nicole

Hi Girls!

Wonderful news!!! I went to my last doctor appointment yesterday. My blood work is PERFECT! I am back to normal!!!!! Yippeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a long road to get to this point...over a year and a half. Tick illness can and do mimic so many other problems. Many thanks for all your prayers and cards over this long period. Now I am back to my old self! I am so very thankful!

Lyme can "hide", so I will watch for symptoms in the future, but for now, things are a-okay.

Nicole

Hi Farmsisters!

Thank you all for your prayers! Good news! The test/scan I was so nervous about was late last week. My doctor called and all is good! Positive, positive news! On the right track now! Just have to go for more blood work in a few weeks to make sure I am all a-okay, but I feel great, energetic, and back to normal! I am productive, no aches, no pain, and am feeling so much better, after a year of feeling poorly! I am so happy to have found a doctor who listened to me, and recognized what was going on. One really has to be their own advocate. I wish I would have said something to you all before, but I was really frightened and not sure what was going on. Thanks again for all your love and prayers, girls! Ticks are nasty, nasty creatures!

Also, to update, my dad is sooo much better, too. :)

Big, happy, farmgirl hugs,
Nicole
