Posted - May 02 2013 : 5:20:43 PM Hello,
Our neighbor Shaina has had her cancer re occur. Shaina's mom says she was born when the plane hit the twin towers in New York City. she is smart, pretty and determined girl. She has been fighting a blood cancer for more than two years. She apparently received good reports for two months and now has received a cancer is back report. She is back in Boston for more treatments.
She loves to get mail. Her home address is ........
Well CeeJay emailed me and and reminded me that this is a public forum and I should remove Shaina's address and ask people who would like to send her a card to email me for the address.
So, since someone is watching out for my naive trust I am removing the address.
Thank you all

Posted - Mar 21 2014 : 6:39:14 PM Good evening everyone,
I have been keeping the posts about Shaina on the swap board updated. I thought I would let people know through this one as well that Shaina will start back to school on Monday part time. She will go each day until she tires and then she will be able to go home.
I hope she does not catch the nasties that go through a school this time of year.
Hugs to you all.

Posted - Nov 27 2013 : 4:39:58 PM Shaina had her pic line removed. They are lowering her rejection drugs so her system takes on more of the work. She still needs to drink a lot of fluids because her kidney function is still low.

Posted - Nov 16 2013 : 5:19:08 PM Good evening,
I have posted on the swap board. Now I will say here that last weekend Shaina was well enough to participate in Youth Hunting weekend. She shot her first deer.
She still tires easily. They are slowly weening her off the rejection drugs so the marrow she received from her sister will take over. She had her IV port removed last Monday so she must drink 60 ounces o fluid a day. So far so good.

Posted - Oct 06 2013 : 7:13:41 PM That is so wonderful that Shaina is finally home. I understand how her mom would keep things quiet for her because of her immune system it could really be compromised if people came around. I will keep praying for her and her recovery. Thank God she is at home. Thanks for the update.
Blessings darlene

Posted - Oct 04 2013 : 6:34:21 PM Hello,
Sorry I have not kept this board up as I should have. I have been posting over on the swap board about Shaina. She is home as of Sunday. Her mom did not let anyone know because she is still fragile and should not have visitors. Shaina and her mom are so glad to be home sleeping in their own beds. Dad and Kaylee are glad to have them home.
She will need to return to the doctor's each week for the forseeable future. Her dad said that if she gets a fever she may have to return to the hospital. For now we are so happy she is home.

Posted - Sep 17 2013 : 9:06:48 PM I only just saw this. I swear, I get wrapped up in my own little world and I am reminded that there are bigger things than me.
Poor wee thing. I will pray for her. Can you please send me her address via email through the forum? I would love to send her mail and have my little girl sign a card, too.
These days are precious. Please tell her mom there is one more praying for them.

Posted - Aug 16 2013 : 4:34:01 PM Hello as of August 12 Shaina update: her ANC dropped to 230:( Not sure how she will feel today. She's still sleeping.
Tuesday, August 13 Yesterday wasn't the best Shaina ended up get sick a couple of times yesterday & was very tired. They have been weaning her morphine, because her mucositis (mouth sores) are almost gone. Today her ANC is 250 (slightly up from yesterday). We are hoping today will be a better day. She's up & watching TV... Mostly waiting for her daddy to get here;)
Thursday, August 15 For those sending Shaina a card or care package it might be best to start using our home address (which has been forwarded to the Boston Ronald McDonald House). Jess(Shaina's Dad)is currently staying there & we are hoping to be out of the hospital in the next week or so (and it seems to take a long time for the mail to get to us at the hospital). Our home address is 699 Minister Brook Rd Worcester VT 05682. THANK YOU so much for sending things to Shaina.
