MAY 19th: I think this mom and Alyssa both would be encouraged by Farmgirls who would be willing to send a card.
If you would be willing to be an encourager please send me an email and I'll give you their address and other info.
I'm thinking that, if you would, SEPARATE cards/notes would be really good. But something that could go in one envelope.

Hey Farmgirls . .
Could you be praying TODAY for Alyssa. She is a 6th grader with CP and is undergoing MAJOR orthopedic surgery today in Denver.
Her family is our neighbors and her mom and I have become good friends (the bond of being mothers of handicapped children). She needs to have major realignment of her legs and feet if she is going to be able to continue walking.
Scary for moms!!!

It has obviously been several months since Alyssa had her surgery. Things are not going as well as hoped and it is just one LONG struggle for her to get better. There are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY issues that I won't get into them, but they are significant.
Basically: for her healing, strength and attitude.
- for physical therapy to be beneficial
- Mom is ABSOLUTELY WORN OUT!!!! She is SOOOOOOOOOOOO tired,
frustrated and struggling with all of this. She is dealing
with her own physical stress and pains in her back and leg,
mental anguish over this and stress of huge significance.
There are two older girls, one college age and the other high school, in the home. They both help a lot but it becomes a stress for them as well. There is a dad, a good one . . .he is very supportive but has to work full time, much of it out of town.
They are my neighbors and I see Mom frequently when we meet out walking on the road. We are able to talk for a bit and "catch up"
So, I ask for your prayers for this family!!!

Thanks farmgirls for your prayers . . .
I've been out of town for a few days and don't know the very latest. I will try to call Alyssa's mom and check in with her the next few days.
Alyssa will have to return to Denver for followup next week (I think) so they can see if her legs are healing properly.
There will be therapy sometime too!!!
I'll keep you posted!

Poor Alyssa,
I am continuing to keep her in prayer CJ as well as her Mom. I do pray that the Lord would relieve her pain and discomfort and to give her peace. Praying for rest and good quality sleep for both her and her Mom.

Talked with Alyssa's mom yesterday. .
. . .please continue to pray for pain mgmt. and for healing. They are trying to transition to regular Tylenol and get off the narcotic pain meds.
. . .need to remove some bandages but Alyssa has anxiety issues with that . . . pray for that to go smoothly.
. . .rest for mom . . . they still have a long road of rehab and therapy ahead.

Hey Farmgirl Prayer Warriors!!
Talked with Alyssa's dad today. She is doing good but having considerable pain (we're talking MAJOR realignment of her legs, work on knees and heels) He was on watch so mom could get out on a walk with their oldest daughter.
So, please continue to pray!!!

Alyssa and parents are home from Denver!!! I believe things are going pretty well. I have not had opportunity to talk with her mom but will update after I do.
But she is home! Will have to return in 3 weeks for follow-up check to see how those leg bones are doing.
Thanks for praying, please continue as this is a long recovery for her.
