Hi, Everyone...

My mom has asked me to let you know that she is back in the hospital. She hasn't been feeling well for most of last week, and started vomiting and falling over starting Saturday. She went to the emergency room yesterday, and a CT scan of her brain shows that the lung cancer has traveled there...an unwelcome visitor, to be sure. She was told that if her symptoms were better this morning after some rounds of steroids, she could go home this morning and start radiation this afternoon at her doctor's office. Unfortunately, she has had some seizures, so she can't go home. She hopes all the farmgirls will pray for her. She is especially concerned about her pen pal Bev, because she couldn't finish a letter to her because her grip on the pen was weak...if any of you know Bev's daughter ( I believe my mom said her name is Karen), and can let her know the situation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance of storming heaven...

Kelly,
Thinking of your Mom and continuing to uphold her in prayer before the throne of grace. She has such a sweet and loving spirit. I was so touched to have received her Christmas card. She is so blessed to have you to be there for her. Praying God will bring her through this to bring glory to Himself.

Kelly, the prayers keep going up from here. I scared myself because I clicked on the first page instead of the last and thought your mom was going through this all over again! So I'll be boosting the prayers and be looking for a good report on Monday.

God bless -

Good evening! I just wanted to let you know I spent the afternoon with my mom, going to Bruegger's for a bagel (an addiction for both of us!), to the craft store, and to Dunkin Donuts for white hot chocolate and glazed donuts. Just to get her out and about, and eating, is a joy for me. She will get her results for her body scan on Monday, so it will be a long weekend for me, but especially for my mom and dad. Your prayers are most welcome, and greatly appreciated by all of us! There is a wonderful woman at my local Y named Shirley who has only met my mom once at a water aerobics class that asked today if she could pray for her...I told her absolutely!! We are storming the gates of heaven!!! Thank you all.

Mom is doing okay... she goes to the doctor at 12:30 today for a body scan to see if there is cancer anywhere else. Of course, we are supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow this afternoon, but compared to the weather the last few weeks, that seems like nothing! Keep the prayers coming...she will need them today.

Kelly,
So glad to hear that your Mom has been well enough to come home. That is a big step and I am sure that even though the power was out, it must have been a comfort to be able to be with you in a place comfortable and familiar to her. We are still praying good things for the both of you and trusting God to do a mighty work!
HUGS!!

Kelly, I received one of your wonderful mom's Christmas cards. I cried when I saw that she had signed it. I'm sorry the weather is not helping y'all out right now. I wouldn't be surprised though if your mom feels better being with her family than in the hospital, even though it's cold. Grab as many blankets as you can round up and make a bunch of soup and hot chocolate. We'll keep the prayers flying up to heaven.

God bless -

Hello!

Wow...it has been interesting here! Mom was released Thursday afternoon to go home (YAY!!), which was great in one way, but not in another...we had an ice storm that cannot be described. We lost power in the night in a widespread area. My house has a small generator that we hooked up early Friday morning, so we were comfy cozy, but my parents' trailer didn't have any backup, so yesterday afternoon they came to stay at my house. We were able to order pizza from a small store in Johnsonville that was operating off a generator, and visited with each other until I dozed in the chair about 9:30. My husband refilled the generator and we all went to sleep. During the night (I believe it was around 2AM), the generator vibrated itself off our porch, and the carburetor flooded. Now we are down to a small kerosene heater. Mom is uncomfortable, but it is much better than freezing in her trailer!
Surrounding areas are getting power and internet back (I am at the library close by), but we are still waiting. Could be days, they tell us. Much as I wanted mom to come home, she would have been better off staying in the hospital...(sigh...)

When she gets home and gets some good rest, she should be signing on and letting you all know how she is. She was able to do some Christmas cards while she was in the hospital, and I know it was important to her.
