********************UPDATE*****************************************
Springer Fire
6/18/2012 450 acres this AM Hot, Dry and Very Windy today.
Will keep all of you posted. Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern.

The Lake George fire has grown to over 200 acres and it has jump the South Platte River. Evacuations within a 5 mile radius. (not me)
Need the winds to die down, they have helicopters (not my hubby) and tankers on it now. Will keep everyone posted as I know more.

Colorado Farmgirls please check in, there is a big fire as every knows in Ft. Collinks Colorado. We now have in the 11 mile reservoir Lake George area right now and they are evacuating 11 mile campground. Subdivisions in the area are on alert for evacuation. This is the next town over from me, close but not real close that we are in any danger.
We have Marilyn in Florissant, (she is fine, just talked to her) Nana Shirl in Kit Carson, CO, Grace in Larkspur, CJ is in Durango, we have Kathleen L. in Denver as well as a few other girls.
Connie has family in Loveland, CO. Any other Colorado Farmgirls that I have missed or am unaware of could you all check in and let us know you are alright.
I am starting this thread at the request of a farmgirl who is worried about all of us. Thank you Sherry.
Please keep everyone in your prayers especially all our firemen and women across the United States fighting fires.
Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie, glad you got some rain. The rain we got the 6th was real blessing. We have fires in Southern Idaho, big ones, but so far no homes burned this week.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.

Rain and lots of it, how wonderful. When I walk across my property now I do not hear crunch, crunch! I love falling asleep to the sound of rain at night and it does not happen often here but the past week has been great! More rain all the way, which is fine by me as we need all we can get. I continue to pray for all the folks affected by the wildfires as they fight flash flooding from lack of vegetation now.
Have a beautiful day everyone.
Hugs,
Debbie

Colorado parts ARE finally getting rain! Thank you Lord!
The related problems in the areas of recent fires can be erosion and mudslides . . .
It's MUCH cooler and less dry at my house and my lawn is looking less stressed! YAY!

More rain in our campground on the 4th and yesterday was even more. The monsoon season has started and we had more clouds, less wind and lower temps today. Things are a bit improved!
Thank you Lord!

My daughter and I are tent glamping right now just 35 miles from my house up the Dolores River. We received some nice mountain showers today and I'm hoping that more of the state did as well. It has been TOTALLY REFRESHING!!!!!

I just pray that they will be out soon and everyone who can, be able to get back to their homes soon and pray that the ones who lost them will be taken care of fast. Take care ladies....

My daughter, Robin, and I were in Walmart in Cortez, CO last night around 9:30 PM for a few things for our glamping trip. There were about 12-15 members of the Yukon Fire Crew there . . . all the way from Alaska!! One of the guys said they were on the Escarpment Fire which was on the Mesa Verde right nearby. They looked tired and grubby . . . ready for a break! We thanked them as we passed by them.

Everyone in Colorado seems to be on their guard right now. Although I noticed there are still people throwing ciggy butts out their car windows. Our small Flaggstaff fire just outside Boulder Co was a bit scary. We had a lot of smoke at our house in Longmont from both it and the High Park fire in Ft Collins. My sister who lives in Boulder was on pre evacuation alert. Thank you to all our hard working firefighters!!

Hello Everyone, good news, The Waldo Canyon Fire is 45% contained and Hwy 24 going in and out of our Mountain communities will open at 1pm after being closed one week. Not all lanes open and lower speed limits as our firefighters are still out there protecting and fighting the fire for us, but we are so very happy that it is open and evacuees will be along home up and down Hwy 24, fabulous news! Everyone is still under pre evacuation orders but for now all will be allowed to go home so we are so happy for them.
Thank you for all your prayers, please continue to keep all those firefighters in your thoughts, hearts and prayers, as Debbie (buzzn bee) said the firefighters are wore out, there are over 1200 firefighters still fighting the Waldo Canyon Fire and they work 16-20 hours a day, firefighters are coming in from all over the United States to relieve them and the heat of course is unbearable for all of them. God Bless All of them.
No word yet on how the fire was started it is still to hot in the center of the fire (the origin) to get the investigators in, but hopefully they will be able to go in soon to start their investigations.
Have a beautiful day everyone.
Hugs,
Debbie

Do they know if it was set or lightning or just hot and dry combustible?
My prayers are with you and the firefighters, God Bless totally.

After having seen pictures of the Colorado fire, I don't know what those homeowners could have done to protect their property. They have green lawns, paved spaces around their homes, and paved roads all around. All the things one is supposed to do.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.

Luanne, I am so happy to hear that yourfamily is safe as well, such a devastating fire it breaks my heart too. Yes, I have been fortunate to have visited the Flying W Ranch many years ago, so sad to see a part of history just wiped out. But, they have vowed to rebuild as has many others, I keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
The smoke smell is very heavy today but no smoke, we continue to pray for a good long, hard rain.
We now have 1 confirmed dead and one missing, just so horrific.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern as we continue to keep everyone especially the firefighters all over the country putting their lives on the line everyday for us in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
