Well, I'm watching the Hurricane again. I'm holding my breath for the Lousiana sisters and the ones closer to Louisiana in Texas. I'm also concerned about it coming here. I just thought I'd start a thread about it now ..... Let's all pray!

Well Gustav has made it to the Midwest. Here, just southwest of Chicago, it is raining like crazy. By midnight they say we should have about 6"s in all. We needed the rain, but this is a bit much. Guess I can't complain too much, we aren't getting any damaging winds with it.

Alee, from what I can find online, Lafayette had some storm damage, but I did not find any news of anything major. There may have been some places that lost power because there were picture of guys repairing lines that had tree branches on them. That's all I could find out for now!

Brenda-

So glad to hear from you! Glad you made it through with just that much needed rain!

I hope Marly is doing okay as well. Anyone know how bad Lafayette was hit?

Well, it never really got very bad for us. It apparently turned and went in a more easterly direction. We are in the northwest corner. We some wind gusts and much needed rain. My folks on the other hand are without power. It seems a transformer blew up and completely melted. Their whole town is without power! My brother got called to be back in New Iberia. With all of the road closers, I don't know how he will accomplish that. He works way down in Intracoastal City on an oil rig. They may not have a rig left. I am very worried about Marly. They were gonna tough it out in their travel trailor at their camp in Lafayette.

Monica,
I got your email. I sent you one back.

This storm isn't turning out to be quite as damaging as we were expecting. Louisiana was better prepared this time. Right now, I am just getting some rain and gusty wind, but it has not fully reached me yet either. I just hope it doesn't spawn any tornado's The wind and rain will pick up tonight through tomorrow and my electricity may go out. So if y'all don't hear from me, that is the reason. It seems to do that at the blink of an eye. I don't have many oak trees left and I sure don't want to lose anymore, but the tops of them have been swaying in circle. None are very near the house though thank goodness. Thank you all for your prayers for everyone affected. Good night!

I know I may be late in this but if anyone needs a place to stay...Linda? I am only 3 hours north of Little Rock where you are. And I have room, and a yard and a cat and a dog myself so pets are definitely welcome. I was outside the last few days working on a landscape project and wasn't paying attention much. Prayers and thoughts are with all of you!

All is well here! Linda- we got mostly rain and there is more to come, but we didn't get the heaviest of the wind and rain.
So glad you're safe- emjoy the vacation!!
Rob Robin says we have some serious flooding to look forward to tonight and tomorrow.
Thanks for all the support and encouragement for all our Louisiana girls.
I don't know who might be neared Houma but they got the real wind- also Morgan City.
If any of you girls are there let us know how you are.

Blessings,
