Posted - Aug 05 2008 : 2:13:07 PM We we're lucky here, 20 miles southwest of Chicago, we had severe thunderstorms only. We did lose a huge branch off or an enormous ash tree in the front yard, but that was the only damage we had. We needed the rain, but could of done without the winds, lightning & tornado scares all around us! It looked like the poor IN folks got hit again. They've had a really tough time along the IL/IN border this summer.

Posted - Aug 05 2008 : 04:09:27 AM It was quite a night. We had 2 storms that skirted us. 1 from the north - 1 from the south. Both carried tornado warnings. We had 1 that touched down (reports of) about 10 miles from us. 80 mph winds. We were fortunate, only severe thunderstorms for us. Both storms turned and headed out to Lake Michigan and the other to Indiana. But the news is showing flooding and lots of damage.
We did spend about an hour in the basement due to tornado warnings.
The lightening was incredible!!
