Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 2:15:26 PM I'm just starting out on my farmgirl path - hope to be closing on 4 acres of heaven next week in upstate NY! Have an outbuilding for hens, stream, trees, and BIG plans! Reading all of your posts has given me such a feeling of hope and encouragement - thought I'd step out of the "closet" and introduce myself!
I'm in my early 50s (better late than never...) on my own and lovin' it. My grandparents were farmers during the Depression and didn't make it, but the farming genes were definitely passed on!
Love to meet some farmgirls up near Berlin NY - I'm a knitter, sewer, fair carpenter, canner, and "mom" to four cats and 2 dogs. Spring is right around the corner and I'm chompin at the bit!

Posted - May 18 2006 : 04:59:07 AM Welcome Susan. Gee, I really need to read this topic more often! Hopefully Spring has sprung up there in NY and you are busy as a bee on your farm. Glad you are here. It sounds like you have just found your own piece of heaven. Good luck.

Posted - May 16 2006 : 07:00:48 AM Hello Susan, I just recently joined and couldn't help but hear myself in your words. Getting in to the farm life, whether your returning or in for the first time, is the best thing a person could ever do for themselves. What a great feeling. Best of luck and hope to be chatting with you again soon. Wendy

When you can you must post pictures of your new place, sounds wonderful. Always wanted property with a stream. I love mornings too, I love sitting and watching the sun come up with a cup of coffee - just too bad during the week I have to do that at work. Again, welcome to the group - you will enjoy it here.

Posted - Apr 14 2006 : 04:28:23 AM Good Morning, Susan!
So glad you came 'out'. Staying in a closet can be very stuffy. Around here, all the gals are just right out in the open about how much they love their lives. Everyone has so much in common even though we are so different in many ways.
What a great treat to be able to meet those two super Farmgirls. And a great treat for them to welcome you aboard! Can't wait to hear more of your adventures.
Blessings Catherine

What the heck man?! I love spring too--I'm an outdoors kinda gal. Glad your here to join us. Let us know how your escrow goes through!! |

Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 2:23:39 PM Thanks Julia & Valerie! I am a paralegal (dry business) when I'm not farming. I am very lucky to have found a place that's near my job (but far enough away that I can forget about it by the time I get home!) and I have odd hours, so my mornings are my own and morning happens to be my favorite time of day! It's a win-win situation!
