I'm just starting out on my farmgirl path - hope to be closing on 4 acres of heaven next week in upstate NY! Have an outbuilding for hens, stream, trees, and BIG plans! Reading all of your posts has given me such a feeling of hope and encouragement - thought I'd step out of the "closet" and introduce myself!
I'm in my early 50s (better late than never...) on my own and lovin' it. My grandparents were farmers during the Depression and didn't make it, but the farming genes were definitely passed on!
Love to meet some farmgirls up near Berlin NY - I'm a knitter, sewer, fair carpenter, canner, and "mom" to four cats and 2 dogs. Spring is right around the corner and I'm chompin at the bit!

Welcome Susan! You will love this place, a lot to of cool ladies! I am just learning to spin and knit, hoping for grandbabies soon to make booties for. Other than the farming you will be doing, what do you do?

Thanks Julia & Valerie! I am a paralegal (dry business) when I'm not farming. I am very lucky to have found a place that's near my job (but far enough away that I can forget about it by the time I get home!) and I have odd hours, so my mornings are my own and morning happens to be my favorite time of day! It's a win-win situation!

I would love to have mornings on a farm. A cup of tea and a view, aahh!

| Hi Susan and welcome!! Good luck closing on your property. How exciting for you!! It sounds like you're going to have a wonderful time setting up your farm. I can't wait for spring either. It was in the 70-80 around here for a couple weeks and now ugly old man winter has shown his face again and we were on a snow advisory all last night!! What the heck man?! I love spring too--I'm an outdoors kinda gal. Glad your here to join us. Let us know how your escrow goes through!! |

Welcome Susan, before long you will feel right out home here. It's a great bunch of farmgirls who hang out here. And I know we all can't wait to get to know you.

Good Morning, Susan!
So glad you came 'out'. Staying in a closet can be very stuffy. Around here, all the gals are just right out in the open about how much they love their lives. Everyone has so much in common even though we are so different in many ways.
What a great treat to be able to meet those two super Farmgirls. And a great treat for them to welcome you aboard! Can't wait to hear more of your adventures.
Blessings Catherine

Welcome Susan
When you can you must post pictures of your new place, sounds wonderful. Always wanted property with a stream. I love mornings too, I love sitting and watching the sun come up with a cup of coffee - just too bad during the week I have to do that at work. Again, welcome to the group - you will enjoy it here.

Hello Susan, I just recently joined and couldn't help but hear myself in your words. Getting in to the farm life, whether your returning or in for the first time, is the best thing a person could ever do for themselves. What a great feeling. Best of luck and hope to be chatting with you again soon. Wendy

Welcome Susan. Gee, I really need to read this topic more often! Hopefully Spring has sprung up there in NY and you are busy as a bee on your farm. Glad you are here. It sounds like you have just found your own piece of heaven. Good luck.
