Posted - Jan 05 2008 : 07:01:47 AM Hi ya'll! I'm a farmgirl with a dream to get back to the farm....we live in town but that doesn't stop me from keeping bees in the back yard, angora bunnies (gotta have some animal with fur I can spin since sheep are not an option), and a modest garden. Oh, I also have 3 daughters aged 4, 13, and 16, and a Rolfer for a hubbie. My interests have led me to teaching in a Waldorf school, where I teach knitting, spinning, embroidery, and crocheting, and also music to elementary children, and teach a parent-child class. Waldorf early childhood teachers are no strangers to aprons, so it's nice to see the apron love here! I sew a LOT and lately have forbidden myself from buying any new clothes...they must be thrifted or created. I can tell you it is FUN to do that. I am also trying hard to reduce my dependency on plastic and I'm in search of a recipe/tips for doing without shampoo. Other than that, it's nice to know how you mothers out there dealt with your teenaged daughters. Hope this isn't TMI!

Know what you mean about being surrounded by boys. I had two sons and an ex who might as well have bee (Ha! that's over....almost). Now I have lots of animals and they are all.....female! My Alan has a very feminine heart too. A sweetie of a real man.

Well welcome EarthMama! Loved your intro. No girls here ... we're all about boys in this family. There's only one girl besides myself and she's a cat! Looks like you have already been properly welcomed but I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're here too!

This one-man touring production by Wade Hall about Abraham Lincoln is from the viewpoint of his law partner, William Herndon, Springfield, Illinois. Billy Herndon, portrayed by Larry Snead, presents a spellbinding monologue of the“evidence” on Lincoln as if he were in court, speaking from the law offices the two men shared before Lincoln was elected president. Outspoken and controversial, he attempts to decipher Lincoln’s greatness and complexity, while offering a compelling look at his humanity. The play will be held in the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, which is part of the Historic District and Renaissance on Main Program. Two performances—three ticket packages - Ticket A—$25.00 per person— tour, reception and play Ticket B—$10.00 per person—play only Ticket C—$5.00 per student—play only Ticket A—meet at the Old Courthouse to begin 5:00 p.m. tour Tickets B and C—meet at the Greensburg Presbyterian Church for the 6:30 p.m. performance. Posted - Jan 13 2008 : 9:26:21 PM Hi all. I've been jumping around the forums all week enjoying looking around and popping in here and there. Well, I think its time to officially introduce myself.
My name is Luna and live with my dear partner Alan in an old farm house in Rineyville KY. The house was built around 1885 and we are slowly learning the history of the house and its role in the area known as Blueball Mountain. We are fairly sure there were once cattle or dairy cows here and that the original farm was much larger than the just under 14 acres we are blessed to call our own. We saw the sadly neglected house and land in Christmas week 2006 and fell in love. We knew we were meant to live here and make our dream of farm life a reality. We moved 6 months ago from NJ where we both left our jobs but not before buying 8 shetland sheep which are now our flock and hope for the future! We arrived in July 2007 and have been busy restoring and updating the house (insulation is a good thing). We have met wonderful neighbors who have helped and guided us through these first 6 months of settling in. We are home. I found this site through a magazine article about a KY woman making rag dollies and I knew I had to meet her and find out more. I have made rag dolls, and wool dolls and puppets, various thread and needle crafts, spun wool and felted it and know that this is how I want to spend my life. We also have plans in the works for a futue CSA farm and many other ideas.
Thanks to all for the support you create and information for this new farm girls. I look forward to meeting and learning from as many as possible.
Luna

Posted - Jan 06 2008 : 8:13:11 PM I posted in your thread, too, Jessica!
I'm in Northern Kentucky, near Florence. We're about an hour and a half from Louisville and go there frequently--we eat at Lilly's, on Bardstown Road (I KNOW, EVERYTHING is on Bardstown Road!!!), but it's our favorite night out.
Janice (Miss Bee Haven) is from Louisville, also. She's also got a farm in Irvine, across the state a bit.
