DixixLiz, we would love to have you anytime, and if you want to be our long distance farmgirl, that would be ok too. I will keep asking around here too.

Thanks Marie. I will keep looking. I've contacted the ones close to me and either the message bounced or no response yet. I figured the groups fizzled out and maybe there are some peeps that are still interested that doesn't get on here often. No worries. If there are events on the weekend maybe I can make the drive sometimes.

hi Dixie Liz, I do not know of one but I will ask the other farmgirls in our chapter. You might also contact a chapter in a surrounding area and ask them if they know of anyone interested in a chapter. That's how some of the sisters came to us. Good luck!!!

I see a bunch of Georgia folks on here. Does anyone know of an active chapter or maybe of anyone interested in starting a chapter in the West Georgia area? I am in Dallas, Ga so maybe Paulding/Carroll/Douglas/Haralson and other surrounding counties? I have searched the chapter listings but have gotten no responses and I do not know anyone local to start a new group with myself.

I am one of susans fellow chapter sisters we really have had fun so far. We have canned chicken, made our needle keeps, all purpose cleaner, and laundry soap. We have a project each time and we helped at the soup kitchen this week. The ideas keep flooding us we have to keep reminding ourselves we have to still continue with our old lives as well. Susan has done a great job of getting it organized and we are trying to help so it is not to much work for any one person. Lots of fun

Marie, We are a new chapter also so we are just getting off of the ground....don't know how big Monroe is but Craig is a small town and I put the news release in the local paper ..... We had twice as many people to our second meeting as we did to our first. Every where that I go downtown I get ask about our group and I am certain that the other ladies do too. Word of mouth IS a great thing. We are having so much fun...as an aside the small shop owners in Craig are also pleased that we now have a chapter. Just have fun and you will grow! Good luck with your group

Hi Marie. I am in N. Ga. near Chattanooga, Tn. Where is Monroe? I would be interested in joining and meeting if it's not too far away.

Hello, I am anxiously waiting for my membership packet to arrive too! Do we have to wait for it to get started and to take part in the Hen House? Thanks!

Hi Marie - I received a packet with membership certificates, bumper stickers, Farmgirl friendship cards, and an intro letter with an example of a journal - which is very nice. I haven't thought as far ahead as how to get the word out - other than word of mouth. We talked about a mission statement but didn't formalize anything yet. We also talked about doing quarterly field trips. Our plan is to make our meetings a combination of learning something (knitting is scheduled for Feb) and just getting together to have fun. Another farmgirl goes to another chapter ~ 30 miles from me. I talked with her leader once and she was very helpful. This is a tough time of year to get going - cabin fever is running rampant. And in our area, you never know what the weather will have in store. Hang in there - I think its worth the effort. If you want to email me, I can forward some info from the other farmgirl leader - it might help. Take care,

Hello everyone,
I've just finally gotten back here and want to say that we had a wonderful first meeting. We are still trying to figure what we will be done but it seems to me that everyone is looking for people that have common interests and spending time together. I'v e been reading Mary Janes Idea book and will take it on Wednesday to our second meeting to share some of the ideas. I'm so looking forward to our meeting :)

Hi Marie,

By joining the sisterhood you receive a farmgirl number, and the main benefit would be that you are able to earn badges. You also receive the monthly cluck, and project of the week e-mails, plus discounts I believe when buying MaryJane products. If the focus of your chapter is to work together to earn badges, then I suggest everyone become a member.

With the certificates you have, you can hand them out to everyone at your first gathering if you have enough, along with the bumper stickers. Those items are for you, and you can decide on how you want to use them.

My chapter always meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month, it is easier for everyone to plan on attending if you have a set date.

I do a monthly newsletter for the farmgirls. I include any birthdays for that month, recipes anything I think will interest the group.
I also put together a phone directory so we can contact each other when we need. I included, birthday, phone number, address and e-mail address.

When we gather I always serve food, anywhere from a casual sit down to just snacks.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Anna, I would love any help or advise everyone has been so kind in helping get started. We will have our first gathering March 5th. One question I really need an answer to is: in the packet does everyone who wants to be a farmgirl have to join the chapter for $20.00(for internet ,etc. or can they just belong in your farmgirl chapter), also do they fill out the membership certificate for a farmgirl and bet bumper sticker?? Any other advise would be great!!!!

Hi,

I started my chapter almost 2 years ago, we currently have 8 members. We gather once a month to do crafts, make household cleaners, etc. This month we had a taffy pulling party. If anyone is starting a chapter and needs any advice I would be glad to help.

We had so much fun at our first meeting! We have lots of ideas and plans. We will be meeting once a month, however we are a social bunch and I bet we will be getting together more often. This friday one of the sisters is going to show us how to can chicken. I have done tomatoes and peaches so canning meat will be all new to me!

Hi Ladies, I have just started a farmgirl chapter in our area and like the rest of you it seems I'm looking for ideas for our first meeting. We have about 8 women interested and I think we will just have a meeting to get to know one another and to brainstrom about where to go from there. As I was looking for ideas I noticed someone asking about a hen house , is this different then a chapter group? So much to know !!!!
Thanks in advance for any ideas,
Vicki

Countrymommy85, I too have a small child in my home,I am raising a three year old grandson, so its been a slow start. I have set up with our local library to use a meeting room, it will be announced on our local radio station using the sample media release from Mary Jane. I have started also what I"m calling membership bags with some recipe cards, pattern also for a project, some local info, pocket calendar from local merchant, and MJ info, bumper stickers, etc. I think once the weather breaks you will se more interest, I had this schedulced for Jan. we had snow and since we have never had 6 inches the state of Ga. shut down. Keep me posted on your progress and I will also. Good Luck
