I've got the paperwork! So if you are interested in gardening in the inner mountain west or just gardening, Organic, "green" backyard or small farming, a healthy dose of horseplay and non-sense, a dash of this and that with some fun do-at-home projects, let me know
I'm learning too and what ever we come up with will be fun. This will be a low pressure group with an emphasis on native and organic plants, heirlooms, gardening and mini-farming in the inner mountain /inland empire... ok mostly dry summer gardening area :P
If you just want to hang out for the fun of it and play in the mud, jump right in
All ideas are welcome. What's your garden growing this spring? What are your tips and tricks?

I'm playing around with several logo ideas I'm thinking of a magpie or a mudhen (coot, that makes us either old coots, or cootettes, not Cooties :P) in blue wellies. Whaddyathink? So far these are our two bird ideas for logos, I'm thinking of other ideas as well.

I might get the chance to talk on the phone with another Mud Hen! Corinne is in my time zone now, and we're trying to arrange a real phone call before she leaves!

Corinne, the Harrisburg area is gorgeous in the Fall! There are so many great antique shops and quilting stores in PA. I drag my DH to as many as I can.LOL Hope you get back into riding again...once you've got horse fever, it never goes away!

Hi Lori, that's so cool that we are both new and only one number apart! LOL, we must have joined at the very same time...great minds think alike!

Hi Kim,

Isn't that funny, we are only one number apart? I've just joined, so we'll both be new together! Already having lots of fun, and haven't gotten to participate in anything yet!

My husband's sister lives in Downingtown, PA. I was there for a visit in 2003 when my neice got married. Pennsylvania is such a pretty area, love the winding roads in the fall, with the colours.

Welcome,

Lori

Kim, I went to Harrisburg a few years back and LOVED it. My husband took a course for his job, I took the car and spent my days driving around and checking quilt shops and old general stores.
It was fall and the country side and the weather were both absolutely gorgeous.
Lucky you to be on a farm, even if I know there is so much work to do.
I do quilt a lot and we just had a fun Fat Quarters swap last month at the Mud hens. I am still waiting for the fabrics to come it, but I know they will soon, so I try to be patient.
When I was young I took ridding lessons and liked it the freedom feeling and the companionship with the horse. I haven't been able to resume ridding yet, but maybe one day, when we retire in Canada.
It is great that our chapter is growing up, Lori and you are only one number apart in the Sisterhood and you both are Muds Hens..; Youpi.

Hi Corinne, I do live on a small farm! We have 16 acres in Gettysburg,PA. Have you ever been here? It's a gorgeous place to live! We use 8 acres for pasture and our yard for the house, the other 8 acres are wooded. We're hoping to clear it (but leave lots of trees and some wild spots for the critters) and use it as more pasture. We have 3 horses, a mule and 3 dogs. Do you ride?

I have some flower gardens and a few apple trees but so far, not herb or vegetable garden. We've only been here 2 1/2 years so it's still a work in progress. I would love to learn more about growing herbs! I looked at some herb plants the other day but din't buy any yet.

I love Bougainvileas and lilies!! My favorite flowers are pansies and violets.

I love to crochet and am trying to teach myself to knit...not having much luck with that so far!LOL I also sew and am interested in learning to spin yarn and weaving. Do you do any crafts or needlework?

Do you live on a farm Kim ? I live in Kuwait where my husband works at the moment. My garden is composed of some herbs and some bougainvileas and desert lilies. The only seeds we've put in a pot are peppers ones. Other than that, we have basil, rosemary and mint.
What are your hobbies ? I cannot wait to get to know you.

Thanks Annika and Corinne for the welcome! Laid back and casual--sounds good to me!

I'll let you know what my number is ASAP. Oh yeah, I'll get that hexagon now, too! I don't own a denim jacket yet! Guess I'll have to be on the lookout for one!

I'll email you my address, Annika, when I hear more.
