Would anyone be interested in doing a Farm Girl cloth doll/stuffed animal ("stuffie") swap?

I make felt dolls and rag dolls (not primitive, but more like raggedy ann-type dolls) and I also make simple animal or monster dollies.

I have some great simple patterns for farm animals if you gals would like to do some of those instead... I think I have a bull, a cow, a pig, goat, duck and chicken. (And cat and dogs) Maybe some others, but I'd have to look.

Anyone interested? We don't have to have lots of folks to do this one - we'd probably just be pairing up.

NOTE: (2/26/07) We have added two components to this swap - first, (and this is only optional) a mini doll from us (in addition to our swap doll) to be sent to Mahri, the little girl whose mom used to work for MJ.

And secondly, we are opening up a junior version for any kids who want to make a doll and swap. (Do not worry about enough kids joining, if need be, we will pair them up with older "kids")....Everyone will get a doll!

EDIT March 1: I am extending the doll swap sign up through the weekend, so go ahead and sign up if you haven't had a chance to do so yet. Also, if you haven't filled out your survey, please do so. Thanks!!! I'll send out partners on Monday.

UPDATE March 5th - The partner info has been mailed to everyone.

Here are the partners:

Kim & Karin
Linda & Jessica
Julie & Erin
Eren & Birdi
Tina Michelle & Judith
Naomi & Frannie
Jeanette & Robin
Carmen & Erin
Kathy & Denise

Please read back in the postings to find their surveys. If they have not posted a survey, please email them with any questions you might have.

MAILING DEADLINE: April 20th (to avoid long lines at the post office during tax filing weekend.)

Dearest Kim!!! The package was waiting for me on my front porch! (I had to dodge one upset Carolina Wren who has built her nest there!) Inside was the most adorable snowman, complete with skis and poles, mittens and a stocking cap!! He is just lovely. Along in the box came- a journal, an address book, a MJF notecard from Kim, a happy grape baby notepad and a "magic" washcloth that I am sure my son will take from me. ;)
Thank you so much for such Farmgirl goodness! Yours is on it's way! I hope that you like her!!

My dolls are about ready to go out! Julie and Carmen, start looking for them!

How is everyone else doing? About ready to mail? This thread has been so quiet lately - I imagine we are all busy sewing and creating!

Finally, I uploaded the pics of Miss Sally Mander, my dollie from Tina. There are a couple other photos there too, of the Rose Ellen, the doll I made for Tina, and my thrift store swap things (what I sent, so don't tell Fawn if she hasn't received her package yet) and the twins I adopted from Sister Frances Catherine's Orphanage. It's in webshots, cause that's about as technical as I can get. Looking forward to seeing more dolls!

Just a reminder - The swap mailing date is April 20th. This is not intended to put any pressure on anyone, just a reminder in case you haven't started your dolls yet.

If anyone is having any problems, please email me. If you need any help or need any information, please email me at erinosmith@hotmail.com.

Also, if you have already sent out or received your doll, please drop me a quick little email so that I can mark your name off on the list. I'm trying to keep track of who's received one, who's sent one, etc. Thanks!!!

To my doll partners, your dolls are almost ready - I'm just working on some clothing for them!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Linda!!!!!!!!!! I just received my sweet little baby from Linda, swaddled in a pink blanket and dressed up in her pretty pink dress and bonnet, lacy socks(hand decorated) and delightful little booties...she is ready for easter. So many goodies were in my box, let me see...2 bright sunny yellow skeins of yarn, 3 different prints of fabric, a journal with matching notepad and notebook, lavendar bath salts, a good smelling candle in a little glass votive and a cute floral easter egg decoration. My two year old twin girls love her so much and everyone has decided she is Little Miss Muffet. How did you match her hair and eye color to mine so well? Linda, she is absolutely adorable and everyone is taking very good care of her. Thank you so much!!!

Now, if I could only get photobucket to work, you could all see Little Miss Muffet for yourself. I will be working on this tonight.

Oh yes and I have been instructed by the kids to make her a bowl of curds and whey and a spider. But they have decided she is not afraid of them, she is friends with spiders and they are having breakfast together. Now I have to put the finishing touches on your package and get it out to you in a hurry! Have a great night everyone.

Thanks again, Linda!!!

Thanks, Erin. I wish I were better with the computer, we have 40 new hand puppets.
Bluewrenn Posted - Apr 01 2007 : 4:17:16 PM
It's a really basic template for felt hand puppets. The templete is nice and simple and only uses two felt squares. I usually make a bunch of blanks and then let the kids decorate them themselves.

Yep, I'll dig it out and scan it... I'll post an URL as soon as I have it ready.

EDITED: If anyone wants a copy of the template, please email me at erinosmith@hotmail.com. It'll be easier to send that way.

Hi Erin, do you still have the puppet template? We would be interested in using it if you are willing to share. Thanks, Jess
Bluewrenn Posted - Mar 28 2007 : 10:28:06 AM
Ooooh, we definitely want pics!!! If everyone will post them somewhere - either on a blog or website or here, or send me a copy of their pic, I'll make a quick little site where we can show off all the dolls together...

this has been a real fun swap.

the butterflies loved them.

Tina is too kind! I received my sweet Sally Mander from her last week and so Rose Ellen and Sally were able to play over the weekend until Rose could get to the train on Monday. Sally has a straw hat and pink flowers in her pocket and she came with zinnia seeds, from Tina's garden to mine, and a lovely handkerchief, some bags of my favorite tea and some other goodies. Sally also is dressed in autumn colors and autumn is my favorite season! How did Tina know?!?
Erin, this has been too fun...thanks so much for organizing it!

Thanks going out to Judith!
Recieved the dolly today and the dream pillow and notepad..everything was just darling! And I loved the handmade card with sheep on it and tartan print.

The doll is absolutely adorable..you really put me to shame girlfriend. ...you did lovely work.

I'll post a photo soon for the gals to see.

So cute...gals the doll has a light pastel yellow bonnet, a red crocheted shawl made from wool that Judith spun herself, yellow blouse with vintage lace trim, an apron that says"farmgirl at heart" and trimmed with vintage yellow rick rack, the doll even has an embroidered heart stitched on her chest, her skirt is made of 3 colors of gingham checks(green, blue, red)
, and she wears bloomers, and holds a basket with a garden tool attached. So adorable.and named "Rose Ellen"

This was alot of fun, and what gal...doesn't like a charming hand made doll?

Thanks again Judith..I will proudly display her in my home.
