Posted - Jun 29 2005 : 05:55:10 AM Hello all,
I am interested in swaping for some homemade soap. I used to love bath and body's soap with bits of "loofa" in it. If anyone has something like that I would be interested.
This is my first time to swap so I'm not sure what all ya'll would be interested in...maybe some homemade "peach salsa" (little spicy and a little sweet). |

Posted - Aug 22 2005 : 11:55:27 PM Ahodge, I would love to barter for some handmade doilies. Currently, I have on hand: Just Plain Soap~ a basic no frills bar with no added colorant or scent. Just Plain Goatmilk~ a lovely bar with goat milk, and shea butter added. No scent or color. This is the best soap for sensitive skin, mild enough for use on babies too. Just Plain GoatmealTM~Goat milk and oatmeal are combined in a shea butter bar. no scent or color. Goatmeal with Aloe~ goat milk and Aloe vera juice added to a shea butter bar. again, no added scent or color. LMK if anything appeals to you. Or, if any other farm girls are interested I LOVE to barter! Karla Moore gadgetwoman@prairieinet.net

Posted - Aug 20 2005 : 12:40:51 PM I currently have a batch of pure Olive Oil soap that has no scents or dyes. I don't need more dollies or doylies however so we could trade for something else or you could contact me if you want to just purchase? |

Posted - Aug 20 2005 : 07:35:21 AM would be willing to barter antique crocheted dollies for homemade bar soap, I am looking for plain noncolored soap, non scented, I have allergies to most scents and some flowers, I like both gylerine and lye soups. Almond is okay. But no peppermint or Lavender. |

Posted - Aug 03 2005 : 2:46:34 PM There is a farmgirl here in Kentucky, Abigail that has her own soap made from honeybees. I highly recommend her products as they smell so good, clean your hands real well, and are KY made. Her website is www.abigailsoap.com She also has online ordering as well. |

Posted - Jul 26 2005 : 9:52:14 PM I'm a soapmaker and have had my own business for going on 6 years. I make goat milk soap in 3 unscented varieties and 5 scented varieties. Lavender, Lemon, Lilac & Rose. some have oatmeal added.
Essential oils, also known as EO's, are the Natural Plant Extracts. They must be used by someone that knows the benefits and dangers. Some of these EO's are so highly priced that it's not feasible to use them for soapmaking. One such oil is a Rose Absolute. Beautiful in it's natural state, but at $3000 a pound it would be a waste to put it in soap.
Fragrance OilsThese are man-made synthetic oils that are tested to be skin safe. Fragrances are a wonderful way to get fragrances that don't exist in nature or are too pricey to use. Such oils would be something like Sandalwood, Rose, lilac, Vanilla or other fragrances such as a Juniper Breeze, Cotton Blossom of Bath & Body Fame.
If you have any other questions, fire away or contact me personally. I'm working on my website as we speak and my eyeballs could use a rest! LOL

Posted - Jul 26 2005 : 7:42:52 PM I would love to swap some sewing for some lavander or rose scented goats milk, I have never swapped like this before, but I love lavander and rose. My DD has been begging me to teach her to make soap for years, but that would mean I have to learn a new hobby! then I would have to find a new hubby!

Posted - Jul 20 2005 : 6:57:33 PM Hi Karen, I am excited you have some soap for me. As far as how it is cut, once it gets wet a time or 2 it won't matter. Email me and let me know the pricing of the soap and what the body spray would run. Looking forward to receiving it. Dorothy

Posted - Jul 20 2005 : 6:45:17 PM Dorothy, I made a small batch of soap with the Damaskus Rose oil. and a few rose petals, smells pretty good, I cut it a little late so the bars are not cut as nice as I hoped (started to get too hard to cut). i have a recipe for a body spray, but don't have any bottles until this weekend. So if your interested, let me know. KarenP

Posted - Jun 30 2005 : 2:02:54 PM This is a post I made over on the other homemade soap thread over in Cleaning Up. Hope it helps.
~~~There are also TONS of web sites with recipes and information. Anything by Sandy Maine is good. Many essential oils won't hold their properties past aromatherapy in lye soap. And many won't hold that very well. There are so many fragrances made especially for cold processed soapmaking that are skin safe and specifically for soaps and lotions. And really not all essential oil are skin safe. Some cause photosensitivity, should never be used by pregnant women, nursing mothers etc. Natural/essential oils doesnt always mean safer. Anything that can be absorbed should be used with caution.~~~
Posted - Jun 30 2005 : 1:22:37 PM sqrl, have not made soap myself yet so can't answer your essential oil ? but you might try posting that question on the bath and body board at candletech.com There are quite a few experienced soapers there that always seem to be able to answer my questions. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
