i went for my 3 month check. it came back not so good. darn my iron levels and red cells are down. i knew i was worse. things are just harder now. so i used to get iron infusions 3 to 5 days a week to stay alive. no one knows where mt iron goes. usually the body recycles iron. nope not me. geez. the infusions take a normal human 15 minutes. it takes 5 hours for me. i crash on them. my body rejects it. so i have to have steroids etc. as if i am getting chemo.after many different kinds of dr.s tried to figure me out here we are. i have porphyria. some of you know that. so the theory is my body knows it hurts to make blood. so it throws out the iron. i have sold my goats. i have 2 buck kids to go then i have my 2 girls. i cried like crazy but i walked ginger and betty to my friends. they are i hope temporarily there. they are still crying for me when i walk the cows to pasture. i am selling some of the white parks. i am loaning isabella my 2 teat jersey to my relief milker. she will go as soon as we confirm her bred. so slowing down here for awhile. i must admit i am sooo scared. i have crashed 4 times. i was doing this for 8 years every week. i was able to stop for about a year. what fun it has been. so now reality check. back in the saddle so to speak. it is a fight to stay alive sometimes. so this is scarey for me. i am so hoping i only need a few infusions to get my iron topped off. sure not what i had planned. i am sooo grateful they can even do this for me. it keeps me around. when they first caught this i was 4.9. normal is 14 to 18. i am between a 9 and a 10 right now for hemoglobin. so i could use an energy boost for sure. we have tried homeopathic herbal even raw liver to no avail. so my journey starts in a day or two.

Sherry, It is so good to hear that you are hanging in there with a positive outlook and good spirits. It is very sad about your friends husband, one just never knows, we just have to make the most of all our days and be thankful for them. Yes? I've heard from several farm girls who have been having to deal with all the smoke in the air and many fires. I will continue to pray for you as I do all my sister farm girls and send positive, healing, sunshiny thoughts your way. Have a fabulous weekend!

good morning farmgirls, i am doing good.. we had a big week. my friend from arizona came yesterday. we used to be buddies when she lived here. now we are email and phone buddies. it was good to see her. they came to see their son. her husband has been fighting cancer for 8 years. they said this was his last trip. so very sad. on a brighter note i am stronger i think. we have had horrid air from a fire. it is at 40,000 acres now. the fire retardant smell is worse for me than smoke. tomorrow a rancher is coming to look at jasmine. i have had her for sale. i may trade her for his 1 year old white park bull. i need to get my milk cows bred. penny is just not taking. i think next week i will get my labs done again they will see if this one worked. still lots of pain and tired feeling. i am going to believe that by next week i will be all strong again. i want to say thank you for all the love and support. may all your days have a cup over flowing. happy days to you sherry

Sherrye,
I too like Nini just saw this post. I will pray that this one infusion does the trick so that you dont have to get anymore- at least for a while. Stay strong and keep positive. We are praying for you!

Oh, Sherry! I just found this post now... I don't know too too much about this disease, but my foster daughter has a dear friend who has it, too, and I know it's no picnic. I'm so sad you are going through this! You will be in my prayers, dear sister. I hope and pray the Lord will miraculously heal you! Sending much love your way - Nini

well gooddness what day is this? LOL- thank you so much for the encouragement. i am still sick. i was able to eat real food yesterday. i am mostly on A-2 raw milk. gotta love my jersey girls so papa and i did get a pig pen clean. he is now trying to fix a tractor tire on a sunday. we are hoping to get the others done. our boer buck just ent to his home. so down one more animal. still reducing chores and hay cost. hopefully i will only need this infusion. we wont know till a few weeks. we need to see if my body uses it and makes red blood cells. so the hope is it will work first try. 10 years ago i had to go 5 days a week it took 4 to 6 hours. then after 2 years i was able to go to every other day. finally i had a 1 1/2 year reprieve. so i thought maybe i would never need another one. they are so painful in my body after for at least a week. plus the fear of checking out permanently. so we are hoping this works. we are trying to keep me on the top end of low. Marly honestly your by line i have always loved. we only really have now and today. so i ask myself often. Sherry what do you want to do with this great big wonderful life????? its actually the line from a movie. i love it. so who here has heard the song by Peter FRuller i am alive. oh my goodness. shake your booty to a fine song. its on youtube. the lyrics are so great. again girls thanks for the love and support and prayers. we are a lot smokey here today. we have a fire about 20 miles away. air quality is BAD. i hope you all have a happy day

So sorry for your health problems,I had to take injection for two years for skin cancer, I always had a low grade temp and felt like I had the flu, it is such a helpless feeling when you don't have the energy to do normal activities. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Roxanna

thanks for the love sisters. i am still sick. so its been a hard walk the last couple days. to think that a small amount of iron could cause such havoc in a body. so pain and sick stomach are the day. so not much to say except this too shall pass. its kind of like sickness from chemo. the challenge is the drugs used for comfort such as morphine make me sick too. so its a balancing act. i learned as a child to cope with the pain by being busy and preoccupied. right now too sick for that strategy. so i go a minute at a time. next is chores. so papa did finish my new milk processing area. now NO stairs. i can drive my car right to the door. it is now OUT of my kitchen. i have a stainless restaurant sink and counter to wash. he made me a cupboard for my jars and equipment. so it stays clean. well gotta get my stuff done before i need to lay down again. slow but happy days here. my cup runs over.

It is wonderful that you have some caring neighbors who are gracious enough to help you. Do be careful when you are out milking it wouldn't do for you to fall. Slow and steady my friend. My grandmother use to say if it's not there still tomorrow I won't have to worry about doing it I guess...LOL Tell the cows and goats that (teehee) when they need milked they are very moody if it doesn't get done.
Well wishes to you.

well a new day, i am very weak and feeling frail. BUT i know its temporary. it feels good to get it done. i may need more maybe not. we wait and see how much gets used. for the first time in years i never stepped out the front door yesterday. friends helped me. i never did a single chore. we have a fine neighbor family. she is learning the farm. we trade food and some cash for her help. well yesterday she did all my chores. my relief milker milked. t.c. is the neighbors name. she is coming today to help again. i am on my own for milking. so we shall see how it goes. i will use the car to bring them in.

oh farmgirls, thanks so much for the love i am tired today. it is from a busy sat. we have been getting ready for this. so fine tuning feeding etc. so lisa came yesterday. we had to run freckles in. she is a heifer due to calve in dec. she was hiding a lot. i had a fly mask on her. BAD FIT so it cut into her ears. we had to haul a 14 foot gate over to pasture. i had tried the day before. so yesterday it worked like clock work. she ran right in the corral. we coaxed her into the head catch. i was shocked her ears were so bad. we sprayed them with fly stuff for screw worms. i hope she heals fast. learning as we go here. i am feeling like we are getting enough done so i am not so worried about things. i get very sick when i get the infusions. we still have some stalls to clean. it is going to be a beautiful day today. just the right temp. so thanks girls for the love. happy days to you sherrye

Sherrye,
I can imagine how hard it is to say good by to your animals for now. But, I agree with you that you must slow down and put your health first. So glad you enjoyed your "year off." My prayers are with you as you start this phase on the tenth. I do hope you will post and keep us updated on your progress. I am so sorry for your troubles.
