I have finally reached that point where I am sick of how I look. Which is a 52 year old woman who looks like she's 8 months pregnant. I mean really, how many 52 year old women do ya'll know that are pregnant? Probably NONE. But that's just what this one looks like. I have never been this big. And it's mostly around the middle. Which is not a good thing. Heart attack waiting to happen here.

Ok, I am going to just come out and say it. I am nearly 240 pounds! OMG, that felt good to be able to come out and say it. I am a closet fatty. I am coming out now. I am big! I am sick of it. I have got to do something about it. Why can't I be as adament about sweets as I am about not shopping at Walmart and not eating anything but grass fed meat and my own veggies and fruits? And cloth shopping bags? ANd goat milk? What is wrong with me?

SO tonight I said I was going to start walking. And I did. I said I would walk for 30 minutes. I was 5 minutes in and it felt like an hour already! Good grief. But I kept going. I actually ran a few times. A big truck went past me and there was a nice breeze for a few minutes. Then nothing. I talked to the horses across the road. Told them what I was doing and they will be seeing me every day now. They are looking forward to that, I can tell. They just kept munching. It's nice to have a little company out there. I saw the biggest jumping spiders ever jumping across the road. A big huge grasshopper. A wooly worm. The neighbor mowing his yard. Another neighbor bush hogging the big huge pastures that were getting overgrown. And all the pretty hereford cattle eating grass. And they got their driveway paved. Looks nice and neat now. And I was sweating like a fat woman walking for 30 minutes.

Then hubby called. He asked what I was doing. I told him I was walking. I am tired of being fat. And have you noticed how fat I have gotten, I asked him? Oh, you aren't fat, he says. Sweet man. But he did say I better be careful. It's awful hot out there. And almost dark. I shouldn't be doing this right now. I might kill myself. He's so thoughtful, he is. And he also said I should go slowly. It took a long time to get this way. Yep, he said that. He surely did. Anyway, I still love him.

So I am going to walk every evening now. I am telling everyone here that reads this that I am in need of some encouragement. I am needing to be accountable to someone. So please ask me if I have walked. If you see me anywhere on here at a time I should be out walking, ask me why I am not out walking.

Thanks, Kris

I was doing really well with walking until our weather got cold and icy, then snowy in the last 2 weeks. It really took the fun right out of walking, so I just didn't :(. I feel like a slug at the moment. I'm hoping that I'll get back at it, maybe tonight, and definitely this weekend. It'll probably be at least a month before we see anything in the way of new green growth and another month or more before I have to deal with pollen, but I'm sure they're on their way. Enjoy your walks Kristin, and it's great to hear you are jogging Megan.

We are going to start walking in the mornings now. I cannot wait to see all the beautifu; spring growth that will be popping up all over the woods where we walk. But I am NOT liking all the pollen out there already. This is getting bad. Itchy watery puffy eyes. I'll have to keep dark sunglasses on. But this morning it was nice and refreshing. I was not out of breath at all the whole way.

How are all you walkers doing?

Thanks Kristin! Keep going ladies! I can jog now, so I would like to start going back and forth from jogging one day and then just walking the next day.

Megan, I am so glad you're able to get out there and walk again. Keep it up. And you are SO young to want to be doing this. Good for you. You will benifit from this in the future for sure.

I walked again today. Had to shed the jacket. I was sweating. I was also starving and it seemed like it took forever to get back home. I will have to eat before I go again. I am just miserable. And thinking of food the whole time. Not good. But the weather has been great this week so far. Tomorrow I will have to get up really early to get to the builing site. I am excited! They have had some problems with the soil and then the foundation but they will hopefully have the walls and roof on soon.

I'm finally able to walk everyday now! I'm about to go and walk now. I can't do as much as you ladies do, but a little is better than nothing when nursing a knee! I'm also doing the WiiFit exercises just to exercise a little everyday.

Good for you, Lorraine. It sounds like you have your BP under control with the walking. Mine was a little high back in Oct. when I saw my doctor. I wonder what it is now. Hopefully we can get back to walking on a regular basis now. We were sweating this afternoon walking. But it was so beautiful. I can't wait to see all the new growth on all the mountain laurel and all the wild bushes in the woods where we walk. I bet it is just beautiful there. But I sure hope we don't see any snakes out. I have a feeling with this nice warm weathere there may ne a few crawling around out there. I just don't want to see them.

The weather this week is perfect for the new home construction. No rain at all. Very warm and dry all week. I drove by the sight and saw the big bus and all the people with their blue shirts on. It's all over the news. I guess you could go to www.newschannel9.com and see what's going on. It's just one block from out big amusement park so there will be plenty of parking. I saw the big tent where I guess alot of the work will happen. It's in a pretty tight neighborhood so not much room. I just don't know what to expect til I get there. But everywhere I go people are talking about it. That and our very own American Idol, Lauren Alaina. She's from about the same place as the building sight. So we are all rooting for her. If anyone watched AI, please vote for her. She's so good.

Kris - congrats on the Extreme Home Makeover experience. That will be so fun. Keep us posted.

I'm still walking with the Leslie Sansone tapes and doing well. My blood pressure has been creeping up over the last couple years, but since I've been walking almost every day, its gone back down. I have been watching what I eat - but I don't like to get hungry - I'm a grazer, I like to eat more frequently and I try not to eat after dinner.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Lisa, it sure sounds like you need a vacation! That's a lot of hours to work.

I got to walk twice today. This morning me and the goats and Bubba walked out back about a mile or so I guess. I saw a deer carcass. I wonder what did that? It was picked clean. We ahd a nice walk. Bubba jumped in the cattail pond and had fun. Then this afternoon I got to walk up the road at the camp. My friend's family was here so they all walked to. Or actually they strolled while me and Jenny walked. It's been a beautiful day here. I hope it was nice all over the country too.

The Extreme Home Makeover show will be here in Chattanooga starting Sunday. I get to volunteer! I will be working Wed. morning 8-2. And they want all the volunteers to be there when the family comes back. I am so excited to be doing this. We won't know who the family is til Sun. I can't wait to see who they are and where they are. I have been told it's in N. Chatt. just over the river. SO not too far. About 35 minutes. I'll let y'all know how much fun I have. It's supposed to be in the 60's next week! Yeah! But cold at night.

Kris, I have been unusually hungry too.
I walked Sat, but haven't since; work has gotten busy, & when that happens I usually put in 12+ hr days between driving & desk work. My job is so unpredictable. I go from nothing to BAM!

Yeah, I finally got to walk today!! It was very sunny but very cold. I was freezing the whole way. I am just glad to be able to walk. But I tell ya what. I am just starving. All I want to do is eat. And I am craving sweets. What is wrong with me? I hope it will pass.

I hope the weather was nice for y'all today where ever you are.

Welcome Sue - I prefer to do my walking done in the morning too, although, not quite as early as you. :o) Good for you. I will also be sooooo glad for nicer weather so I can walk outside more. Hang in there everyone, spring is just around the corner - ok, its kind of a big corner, but its closer than you think! Stay warm...

Good for you, Lorraine. I am so glad you are keeping up with your walking. I am so lazy these days. It's so cold. But I think in a few weeks the weather will not be so bad and we will be able to walk outside again. I cannot wait Keep it up.

Hi Sue. Welcome to the forum and to this thread. So glad you have joined us here. I used to have a treadmill but no room in this house for one. I also have the Leslie S. DVDs but amm really not wanting to do anything at the moment. Just waiting for pretty days again. But keep checking in here and let us all know how you are doing.

Hi all! I'm brand new to the site and just wanted to chime in that I too am walking (thanks to my treadmill!) usually about 2 miles a day. I get up at 5 and walk before work - otherwise I just won't do it. I really look forward to spring when I can walk outside again, but in the meantime I will keep at it indoors. Already noticing a positive payoff! Keep it up everyone :)

Hi All - glad to hear you're still at it. Lisa, sounds like you're doing great. Keep going...

Kristin - hope you're feeling better - no fun to be sick... Hope you can get back to it - you'll definitely feel better.

Megan - sorry to hear about your accident and surgery. Yikes... Surgery is no fun at all... Sounds like you're on the road to recovery. Hang in there.

I watched my first Leslie Sansone VHS tape today and was really impressed. I liked it a lot. I wrote a thank you note to my friend for sharing with me. It was fast moving and kept me motivated - and nice to have an option if the weather is bad or time is short. I still prefer being outside, but this was very good.

Hey Megan, I am so sorry you banged up your knee. And you are so young. But that's a good thing. You'll get through this so much faster and easier. But do take it easy and don't overdo it. I'm glad you're walking again.

I missed the walking today because of going to the doctor. But will start next week again. I have to.

Hi all! I took a tumble in fall playing rugby, and I had to have knee surgery (better now as a freshmen in high school than later in life), and I had to take a hiatus from this thread, but now as a part of physical therapy, I'm walking everyday again! I've been walking for the past three days now, for 10 minutes. A small victory in the road to recovery!

I have been walking every day on the treadmill at least 2 miles, usually 3 & on an incline. Hubby likes to listen to patriotic/military music when he works out, & it REALLY helps. Very upbeat. I'm sure I will tire of it soon, but for now, it is doing the trick.

Hey Lorraine. Good for you for wanting to start walking. I have a few of leslie's tapes too but have not been feeling well lately. I did wald a few days a few weeks ago with my friend up the road when the weather was nice. That was the last time. We plan on getting back into a routine as soon as it warms back up. It has been snowing ot raining or freezing just plain miserable here. I am going to my gyno tomorrow and I am sure she is going to tell me to get on the ball and get this weight off asap. I know that's part of my problems.

Anyway, maybe we can get this post back up and running again. Good luck to you and get out with those dogs!

Hi Everybody - I see its been over a month since anyone posted on this thread. I really enjoyed reading most of it - it was taking so long, I skipped some pages. :o) Anyway, I recently went to the doctor for a cold and found out my blood pressure was pretty high - that was the kick in the pants I needed, so since then (a week or so) I have been very good about limiting sodium and watching what I eat. My doctor said she would give me some time to get the BP lower and strongly suggested walking on a daily basis. I live ~ 60 miles SW of Chicago and its been very cold here. I have two dogs that love to walk on trails near our house - but when its so cold, I whimp out. However, a friend gave me a whole bag of Leslie Sansone VHS tapes. I still have one of those small TVs with the built in VHS - it works fine so I plan to start those. Had a good walk yesterday with the dogs and it felt good. I'm in my mid 50s and ~ 40 lbs heavier than I'd like. Is anyone still walking? Hope so. Has anyone seen improvement with their BP after walking. I really want to avoid taking meds....

Hello. It's been awhile. I have not been walking every day here. But when I am in town at Mrs. T's I will walk around the block 3 or 4 times. Then at mom's there is a nice walking path. But yesterday I walked twice up the road on the 3 mile walk. Won't be able to today.

I hope you all are able to keep walking. I know it's snowing in some places. It's going to be really cold here next week. I am ready for spring!
