blisters...YIKES!! you two must have really gone for a hike!
I have been walking quite a bit this week and it looks like the scale hasn't moved at all. I will be so disappointed if I don't have a loss this week:(

I need a little encouragement so I will join up too. I started a diet on March 23. My goal is to lose 35 # by Sept (for a trip to Africa). So with that incentive I had better get going as that means I must lose 7 # a month to make my goal. It is week 5 and I had lost 7 # but gained 2# today. I weight in every monday so I still have a chance to get caught up. My goal has been 1-2 # a week. My pollen allergies got real severe late last week so I have not been able to exercise. I will get back on the rebounder today as I am a ton better. I did not follow my diet yesterday (a bit of stress) so that is my goal today. The sun is out and that is exciting, so I will work in the yard, good exercise.

Find your joy and live it. http://cheneybaglady.blogspot.com/http://www.kpaints.etsy.com http://www.thevintagebaglady.etsy.com FG #377

Melanie, I'm so glad that you are getting out and walking when you can. It won't be long and the weather will make it much easier to get out. Do remember when it comes down to it, 80% of losing weight is about what we eat and not the exercise. I know for me, if I work out for and hour or two I sometimes think "I can eat that, I worked hard today!" Well, exercise is really important but it still comes down to what we put in our mouths!

How is Oliver??? I bet he likes his walks too!

no walking today it's snowing so hard...visibility is the pits!

thanks Chelsey and Cindy for getting this thread going again!!!
Oliver and I walked yesterday for almost 1 1/2 hours. I sure thought about what I ate all day after that as I didn't want all that walking to be for nothing.

Melanie, I am thrilled that you are doing so well and I'm happy to have encouraged you to join W.W.!! Yes, it really does work and is a healthy way to go. You probably recall that I lost 70lbs that way and although I did gain a couple pounds during the winter, I have maintained very well. In fact, I think I am ready for "phase two" and ready to lose another 8-10 just for good measure!

So, maybe I will be checking in here more often to get that next phase off to a good start!!! Your diet buddy.....Cindy

I have been working out all week! This has been such a productive week for me! I started with one day last week to get started and this week, worked my butt off! I am sore right now, but it feels good.

I start with at least 30 minutes of cardio, sometimes more depending on the time I have. From there I go and do weight training on machines. I do many different leg weights as well as arm weights. I also stretch and do abs on the mat at my gym. It is really great! I already feel different.

I have also been very diligent about drinking a lot of water. I have been eating fresh fruit every day and not gorging myself on the huge portions I used to eat.

The BEST hint I ever got for portion control was to buy ice cream scoops in 1 T, 2 T, 1/4 cup, etc.
Then DO NOT deny yourself anything-just have a tiny bit in little nibbles. 1 T of a fudge brownie in desperate times is better than a 2 x 2 square or heaven forbid a whole pan!

If you indulge in bits once in awhile the pounds still come off.

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!

Tamara, That is a great idea using a straw. Your right one usually drinks more with a straw. In the summer if it's real hot I'll have a beer with a straw. My DH thought I was nuts, I'm not much of a drinker of beers but in the summer a cold one is great, and I always use a straw in the summer. You can never tell when a thirsty bee comes along.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

I joined a group of friends who are keeping tabs on each other via Facebook called The Fit Club (ie, The Fight Club since we are fighting this weight!). We are kicking the proverbial butts of each other! I am eating fine, it's the MOVING I hate!!

Hey Melanie. Since I haven't been eating sweets for about 2 weeks now, I feel like I've lost some weight. I need to go weigh at the doc's office. But my pants are loose!

I did WW several years ago and lost lots of weight. Then gained it all back plus some. It did work but I fell off the wagon.

I think when Lent is over I will limit my sweets to Sundays. I really am not missing it too much.

Kristin...it is so hard. Food is so socially acceptable...I quit smoking years ago and I think that was easier. Smoking seems to be taboo now, but eating is everywhere.

Ok, I think I am in need of a bunch of weight loss. I would love to lose 50-60 lbs. The doctor did say my cholesterol was 300. She said I would have to start taking medicine for it. I said no, I will not. Can ya'll tell I don't like doctors? It seems that's all they want to do is hand out prescriptions. I asked what I could do to lower it myself. I already know, but she said the E word, exercise. And eat almonds, take fish oil, eat less animal and dairy and more veggies. I had already given up sweets for lent. That's a big sacrifice for me, believe me. I had to have sweets every day. Although I have not had ice cream for a long time since I read what all is in it.

And I know I will feel better, too. I heard on the news that a woman should only be 35 inches aroung the belly or less to prevent a heart attack and men should be 40 or less. I have lots of padding there.

So I am on board here, too. Ya'll have lots of good ideas I'll try. And once gardening gets underway here, I should be good to go. Ya'll are all doing good.

Kris

I just looked back at my first post. It was on Mar 1. I just weighed myself and I have gained another 1 1/2 lb. I guess thinking and talking about it isn't going to make the weight come off. I worked outside most of the day yesterday. Thought surley I had worked off a pound or 2. NOT. Time to get serious.
