Posted - Oct 23 2009 : 07:05:37 AM Hello all Farm Girl Friends!
We have had some farm girls interested in signing up for Farm Friends (rules below). Here is what I propose...
For those of you who are new and wishing to join, simply post on this forum that you are interested in a farm friend and those on this site can reply and you can send emails/snail mail back and forth...like pen pals! The rules can be seen below if you need them.
For those of you already enrolled and wishing to drop out (as some have already done due to hardships, etc) please post on this forum that you are dropping out and wish to put up the name of your current farm friend to be 'picked up' by someone else. Be sure to post the name only (not the full address) of the gal you had and anyone here that reads your post and is interested in picking up the dropped name, will simply send that dropped name an email from this forum (you'll find her by name in the membership area). They will email her or post to her, expressing an interest in becoming her new farm friend. If she is indeed interested, she can then email her address to her brand new farm friend!
This will be more fun I think...less confusion and less work for this urban farm girl/law student!
Here are the general rules:
1. The MJF Farm Friend will begin on every new magazine issue - example: the spring issue you should have received in the mail already or fairly soon - just browse the magazine and base your gift on the main themes of the current issue.
2. Within 2-4 weeks for each issue, hunt around for a gift or make one yourself (you may need the full 4 weeks which is why I gave that for a timeline). Please do not spend more than $10.00 which includes shipping. Here's an example: one issue was 'preserving the harvest'. I may send out a little charming jar with preserve making items in it, hard to find teas with a small jar of honey, or a pumpkin candle, etc. In the barnquilts issue, well...the sky's the limit on that one! A quilt piece, a quilting how-to book, or a small sewing kit..etc.
3. With your gift, send a little note or letter, as hand written letters are so rare these days! This is the real gift!
4. If you wish to discontinue with your farm friend, please contact them directly, and don't forget to post her name only on this forum.
It's amazing how fast relationships develop! I love it!
Thanks everyone, and have fun!! |

Posted - Feb 26 2012 : 11:16:58 AM Marsha, I received your lovely rice bag! It was probably at the PO for awhile but this time of year when the roads are so bad, we don't go down often. It is wonderful and will not doubt come in quite handy when I'm over-doing it in the garden the way I always do every darn spring!

Posted - Feb 15 2012 : 4:56:40 PM Ah crud...Jennifer, I haven't gotten any emails off of the forums. I thought something was going on as I've emailed a couple of ladies but no reply. I'll see what I can find out to get it fixed! ** Ok I had updated my email a while ago, but for some reason my old email was in my profile. I think I've got it straight now!**

Posted - Feb 14 2012 : 09:38:42 AM Susan, I mailed out your package today priority mail! My dd and dh do all my mailing and they have been extra busy this month. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed making it for you! Love the fruit fabric.
I love the vege fabric potholder you sent me. I use it to take things out of the microwave. It works perfectly. Thanks again for being my farm friend.

Posted - Feb 14 2012 : 09:07:21 AM Rachel, I am trying to send you emails, but I keep getting a "failure notice". I received your email, though, and I am trying to reply the address from which it was sent. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's probably me. Lol.
I am really excited about us being farm friends, and if it's okay with you, let's start with the next magazine for our themed gifts. Have a blessed week, and Happy Valentine's Day!
