Posted - Apr 04 2007 : 07:15:56 AM they are changing already, and are now twice the size than when I first got them..I will have to get pictures today. they are starting to slowly lose the baby yellow fuzz and heading towards getting bigger wings and a few pin feathers. it is amazing how fast they are growing. They like to follow me around the yard. I'll try and get more photos today and hopefully get them posted by tomorrow.

Posted - Apr 04 2007 : 07:03:35 AM Like most baby animals, I want them. They are absolutely the sweetest things I've ever seen--well besides all baby animals :) I love the bath photos (they remind me of my niece, who also loves the tub, oddly enough), but the first photos you posted are just so dear, those beautiful eyes looking coyly into the camera. What charmers!!!!

Posted - Mar 27 2007 : 09:20:34 AM they can be messy..yesterday I gave them more water than I usually do, and my goodness..had they made a mess! I had a bit more clean up to do and had to carry the cage out verrry carefully..yucky sloshy ducky yucky water..anyhow..all clean now...ha.
they are keeping me busy..but worth it. I burn a candle in the kitchen so that my living room doesn't smell like a duck pen.
They get a clean cage every morning. but they sure can create enough mess every day.
When they are bigger and outdoors it won't be a problem as the mess soaks in the ground real fast. Anyhow..if anyone is considering getting a few..do keep in mind that they are messy critters(watery droppings)..but if you can handle the daily" must be daily" clean up...they are worth it.
One thing I learned is that the life span on Pekings is 10.5 yrs. So they live about as long as a cat or dog would.

Posted - Mar 27 2007 : 08:58:30 AM Congratulations on your little fuzzy babies!! The pictures are wonderful. We had a pair of khaki campbell ducks that were supposed to be two females and one ended up being a male. They were so sweet together. Their names were George and Anna. George would "gaurd the nest" every day while Anna layed her egg. I bought a little wading pool for them and they absolutely loved it!! There so much fun, but we have limited area for the animals and they ended up being to messy to be in with the chickens. I really miss them though!! Enjoy your babies and keep the pictures coming!!
Blessings,
Missy

Posted - Mar 26 2007 : 2:53:49 PM there is a difference in the color of the beaks too that I have noticed..the smallest one has more of an orange color to the beak..that one is my quieter one and the smaller of the two..the larger one has a solid pink beak and is louder. So I think I may have gotten a pair. time will tell.. but there is a difference in their temperament too.... the bigger one with the solid pink beak seems to have more of a fiesty attitude..I have heard it said that females tend to be fiestier in certain animals.So..we'll see. can anyone here tell me for sure if there is a difference in beak colors on males and females in this type of duck?

Posted - Mar 26 2007 : 07:55:06 AM well..one of the babies is louder than the other..I'll have to listen more carefully..but it seems one is certainly more verbal than the other.would be neat if I had indeed chosen a "pair"
thanks for that bit of information.

Posted - Mar 26 2007 : 06:01:39 AM oh Robin..I had to laugh out loud at the pill bugs being baby armadillos...they must have been very young when they thouight that. LOL
actually pill bugs are not really bugs at all..but are related to the horshoe crab!and are isopods.
