Ladies, at 10:00 this Saturday night I went out to my goat shed to give them some hay and guess what?? My little Sadie gave birth to a beautiful and health baby girl!! Everything went so well!! Ok, here is the whole story. I was sitting on the couch crocheting and it was about 10:00. I was going over in my mind weather I should go out and check my goats and give them some more hay. So after thinking for a bit I got Terrah my sister to come out with me and get some more hay out of our other shed as we had none in the loft. So we go out there and Terrah is carring the hay and I shine the flashlight in and there on the ground is this little baby goat, so at first I just stand there and think I am seeing things or going nuts! I was already really tired so I thought I was seeing things! So then I finally wake up and get to work cleaning the mouth and nose and wipping it off. it was really cold so not thinking I wrap my best coat around it! Sadie meanwhile was crying so I told Terrah to go get dad ( I prayed so hard that if Sadie has her baby that dad would be here to help me, and he was!!! ) So we get a boxs ready for The baby we bring it inside and it feel right asleep! Sorry there is so much to tell but I should close. To sum it all up mom and baby are doing great!! Sadie is doing great and eating! The baby is so small and perfect! She is black like her daddy with white spots on its back, she has her moms cute little face, and let me tell you there is no problem with her lungs! She is a sweetheart! I want to thank you all so much for your prayers!! God truly took care of my two babies!! I cryed and cryed thanking god for being with my little sadie and her baby! We are having a little trouble feeding her but are getting stuff into her! I so wish I could post a picture of her!! And tonight I saw how much Sadie really needed me!! She would go nuts after I left her to go up in the house and make sure the babies was alright! My dad milked her while I talked to her and told her what a wonderful job she did! I am so happy!! So tonight I will be up feeding this little one. It was so cold outside that we brought the baby inside to sleep by the fire! Right now she is out like a light! I will try and post as much as I can! My whole world just changed! Me and Sadie are both Happy Moms!!
Hugs,
Channah

Kathryn, That is exactly what I was going to do!! That is so cool!! I feel it is the right thing to do!!

Kris, sure I can post a picture of mom and baby together!! But I can't post pictures so if some sweet person would post them for me that would be great!!!

I am letting the baby spend all day out in the goat shed with the other goats and then I bring her in at night and let her sleep by my bed. It workes great!! She nurses in the day and sleeps at night! She's my little alarm clock because she gets me up at 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning!! But I don't mind. When you look at her sweet little face you forget why you were mad. :) Sadie is doing great and is a very good milker! Her teats are very small and hard to milk but it is perfect for the baby to nurse. I let the baby nurse as much as she wants and then I milk what is left in her udder. She is a very loving mom!

Hugs,
Channah

Channah, I'm glad Sadie let let nurse. It's so much easier to have the mothers raise the kids. And the kids seem to be much happier with them. So good, Now you'll be able to get some much needed sleep! Can you show us some pictures of mom and baby together now?

Ebony Jane is perfect, I am so glad Sadie is nursing her baby, your story was not too long and CONGRATULTIONS to all of you. I leave my kids with their mothers until they are 1 month old and eating hay, then I seperate them at night and milk the does in the morning, I release the kids, as soon as, the milking is done and let them nurse all day. My inside pen has a moveable wall, so the kids and does are still in the same pen all of the time and can see each other. My kids bleat a little the first night or two and by the end of the week start going into "their" with a little encouragement.

When you free your mind your heart can fly. Farmgirl # 714,

Well I decided to let Sadie nurse her baby. I feel that it is the right thing to do. She is such a good mom and very caring and gentle with her baby! I was having a really hard time trying to feed the baby because she would not eat out of a bottle. So on day 2 I thought maybe she would nurse from her mom. It worked!! You just can't replace and mom with a nipple! :) She is a happy little girl now and so is Sadie!! They are so fun to watch!

Thank you Sharlet, Susan, Kayce and Marly!!! I found out the meaning of her name!! Here it is.

Ebony means- From The Black Wood

Jane means- The Lord is Gracious

So putting that together it is----- From the black wood, the lord is gracious. I think it is so pretty!! What do you all think?
