Posted - Mar 31 2009 : 08:23:25 AM We got a cheapo incubator ($20) to experiment with and put a few of our silkie eggs in it (with 3 roosters and 2 hens, we figured just about every egg was fertilized :) ) So. . .now, 21 days later, we have one hatching!! It is soooooooo cool! My 4 year old has spent over an hour watching the progress! Fun fun fun! |

Posted - Apr 01 2009 : 06:59:00 AM Sheila, that is so fun to watch. And they do seem to take forever to get completely out. How fun for the kids to see that. What kind are they?
I just put 5 eggs under a broody hen yesterday. She looks like she'll be a good mom. In 21 days we should have some, too.
Have fun with them. Kris

Posted - Apr 01 2009 : 06:39:19 AM Well 2 of the 3 eggs hatched and everyone really enjoyed seeing it all! The one chick took like 20 hours to hatch completely out and the other took like 2 hours! :) after eating and drinking and sleeping they both look great! What fun! I think I'll pop some more eggs in! |
