Haven't been able to get here in quite a while. Today i received a hoax message generated from this board. I think the sender of this message should be removed from the board because i am certain this is a hoax and/or a scam.

Hi girls. Carol from MaryJanesFarm here. Just wanted to reply on this forum too, as we've posted some information about these scams on another forum. See Taylor's post of Oct. 28 on the Welcome Wagon, Warning forum. Our service provider has been working hard on this issue to try and make our chat more secure! Just so you know, too, I've been getting these kinds of e-mails for about 2 years or so at my university job, so it's everywhere. Hopefully, we can do something here so that it doesn't happen again, though.

Yes, I recently got an x-rated email (for adult "products") and this has been happening more and more lately. Only my relatives had my email previously - I don't give it out, so I may have to remove it from this site.

This is most definately a hoax. We have received these throughout the years and most disturbingly, a co-worker received a PHONE CALL via me (she was not at her desk and I took a message), along with a letter requesting personal info such as banking info etc. Please, friends, be careful when responding to e-mails and phone calls. I reported this as spam through Yahoo.

Any email message that is sent by someone who is not in my "white list" via my ISP is listed as spam and is kept on a web page where i can view it if i choose to do so. I am not worried about "catching" something or that my reading the message might generate more of these type of messages since it is not actually coming into my computer.
I am annoyed that someone like this is able to take advantage of the people on this forum on pretense by becoming a member. I have been on a number of lists over the years but the only ones i have remained with are those that make some attempt to prevent this type of abuse of group members. I have sent a copy of the email to MaryJane. I hope that the webmaster removes the sender of this email from membership since it is obvious that the sender is not here to contribute to the conversation. I have gone to my profile page and changed it so that members can no longer contact me by email. I am sorry to have to do that because i have enjoyed hearing from some of you privately, particularly since i haven't had time to participate on the forum lately.

Haven't received that email, but as I said in another post - if you are unsure of any email you are getting, don't open it. For one thing is can carry a computer virus if you open it, for another you are setting yourself up to get more such emails. Be sure of who is sendng you messages, if you're not sure, just delete it without opening it. Any legit sender will contact you again or over another means of communication.
