Posted - Aug 26 2013 : 07:58:08 AM Good Morning Ladies!
Nini and I wanted to have a special place on board where we could all participate in celebrating Autumn. So, we have collaborated and come up with some special threads in honor of the Fall season. So be sure to check other Celebrating Fall threads
Time to get cozy! The temperatures are dropping, soon there will be a fire in the woodstove and quilts and throws tossed about. What makes any season come alive? Food! Our comfort zone :) Take a deep breath and smell the air. What aromas do you smell? Venison Stew cooking in the Dutch Oven? Or maybe Hot Mulled Cider? The spicy scent of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in the Pumpkin Pie you just pulled from the oven?
Share your Fall Recipes: main meals, beverages, desserts, you name it! We want it!

Posted - Oct 15 2013 : 10:56:08 AM Pumpkin risotto has become a fall tradition in my house. I start with Giada de Laurentis' recipe and give it a few tweaks to accommodate our allergies (chicken broth becomes veggie broth, no bacon, white wine becomes white grape juice, and cheese is optional at the table).
Of course, pumpkin pie and apple turnovers are essential!
I'm going to be copying every recipe in this thread, I think....

Posted - Oct 03 2013 : 08:52:34 AM It does look good!
I have Pumpkin Bread in the oven right now as I type :) I finally found a recipe that I absolutely love, not too flat tasting if you know what I mean. I added some raisins for my honey and sprinkled some brown sugar and cinnamon on top before baking. My reward after spending so much time processing pumpkins all day yesterday and not even touching the halfway mark!

Posted - Sep 29 2013 : 06:41:38 AM I'll have to post a picture when I make the oatmeal. The bread went to my in-laws (today's my father in laws birthday) and I didn't think to get a picture before I left. He did let me know how great it was though!
Sylvia, the recipe is on page 2 of this thread. You have to try it - it's wonderful!!!

Posted - Sep 18 2013 : 08:15:12 AM I LOVE pumpkin butter! This is easy to make and yummy still warm on toast, pancakes and sliced apples! My sweetie pie is diabetic so that I have to swap out some of the sugar for artificial sweeteners. I don't think it's as good but it's still delish It tastes like autumn!
Pumpkin Butter
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups pumpkin puree, or 1 (29 ounce) can (not pumpkin pie filling)the pure pumpkin puree 2 tsp vanilla extract 3/4 cup apple cider or juice (cider is best) 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 tsp cinnamon (less or more to taste) 1-2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (to taste)
Directions:
Combine pureed pumpkin, vanilla, apple juice, spices, cinnamon and sugar in a large saucepan; stir well. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 - 40 minutes or until thickened. Stir frequently. Adjust spices to your taste.
Enjoy!
