Posted - Nov 14 2012 : 06:31:15 AM Two of my favorite things to eat at Thanksgiving are my Mother's mashed potatoes which are swimming in butter that the potatoes are yellow and the dressing/stuffing made with giblets.

Posted - Nov 13 2012 : 9:01:33 PM Has anybody ever tried beer basting a turkey? We've done it with ham and it comes out so tender and juicy, so I'm wondering how it would come out with turkey.

Posted - Nov 13 2012 : 8:33:51 PM This is what will be on my table this year for Thanksgiving. I make a new menu for the holidays every autumn, choosing a few things from a bunch of recipes that I've gathered all year. I spend all year looking forward to the coming holiday, never quite knowing what will make the final menu.
We usually like light flavored or plain sparkling water to drink Roast turkey ~ I may try to brine soak it this year or I will cider baste it. Tea basted is yummy as well...I can't decide! Homemade turkey and mushroom gravy Homemade whole berry cranberry sauce (so easy-so good!) Roast golden potatoes instead of dressing Salad of mixed baby romaine, walnuts and pomegranate seeds in balsamic-fig dressing Homemade almond crust pumpkin pie and hand whipped vanilla creme "Turkish" coffee

Posted - Nov 09 2012 : 1:03:38 PM The main things we are having: Turkey, stuffing; sweetpotato pie; corn; mashed potatos; and Dinner rolls with a carmalized topping. My husbands nephew refuses to eat any type of potato other than french fries, so he brings those. For desert, we always have pies. Sammy Ann |

Posted - Nov 09 2012 : 07:21:22 AM We are making homemade turkey pot pies for our dinner. And we'll have the usual, candied sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. We decided that since there will only be the two of us, we aren't going to any trouble.

Posted - Nov 07 2012 : 10:21:31 AM Hey, Melody! - When I first met my husband, I went to his mom's for Thanksgiving dinner - they had HAM! I'm a descendant of New Englanders, so I'm used to all the traditional dishes with all the old-fashioned trimmings. I couldn't believe it! My in-laws are from South America, so I think whey put their own spin on the Holiday. My mother-in-law told me something I'll never forget: "You be thankful for what you want to be thankful for, and I'll be thankful for what I want to be thankful for." I guess they were thankful for ham. ---lisalisa
