just got back from going for a walk with my 2 yr. old daughter down our dusty dirt road; i came across these rose hips. they have been there all winter, but today they really brought joy to my heart. it has been a long cold winter and we probably won't see spring until the first of may, i kid you not, it seems we go from winter straight into summer!! maybe the reason they seemed so different to me today, was that i took the time to look, maybe because my daughter and i were together, just the two of us; maybe the sun hit them just right. whatever the reason i enjoyed them and wanted to share. i know it's been a hard year for a lot of people; and it is so easy to get down and in a frump, so i just wanted to know what simple joy you've experienced today?

My DH giving me very romantic kisses before I left him off @ work. We both have two full time jobs, one in the city (We commute an hour each way) and farming on the farm, so we're constantly exhausted. But his kisses make it all better.

Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

Oh my goodness! Woke up this morning and looked out the window and there it was. I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Something I haven't seen in forever. The SUN!! And BLUE skies!! Just simply amazing! Especially after, oh, I don't know, 2 months of RAIN! And gloom. It is just wonderful to see it again. The critters don't know what to do. They are all just standing in the sun, basking in the warmth of it. Oh, what bliss!

I hope everyone gets to see this today!

Kris

Finding exactly what I needed in record time and at a good price out shopping today.
And also hand feeding Licorice, the goat kid, some soaked barley. She is such a darling!
I could go on....I've had a good day and am enjoying a peaceful evening.

Patsy: so sorry about your daddy. Loss is so hard. Think of what you can do for others in your dad's name. God bless.

Looking out the kitchen window at the red rose plant my neighbor gave me when my daddy died in Feb. Despite the tons of rain and little sun it got, it has 2 roses on it right now. That put sunshine in my heart. :)

Make my words soft and tender, for I may have to eat them. :)

I'm thankful my sister has (so far) a healthy baby girl (her 2nd baby - born May 2, 2008 passed away after 18 days of life due to a rare heart defect). She was 5 lbs 10 3/4 oz & is 18 inches long....

On the same day, my dad's mom passed away. We weren't close to her at all (we have only seen her 6 times in the past 30 years) & I think it's fair to say that we all have/had issues with her. But she's gone now, so I don't need to keep these feelings all bottled up, wasting my energy....

I'm also thankful for my new CD, Celtic Thunder Act 2. They are such an awesome group! (And their accents just add to the charm & attractiveness of them :)

Spending the afternoon with my daughter. A blazing fire, cocoa with cayenne, and a movie! Lovely!

For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

My simple joy today was having my three little grandchildren comb and 'do' my hair. They are so beautiful and it was a moment that brought me more joy that I even have words to describe.

Each of them took my hand to lead me to the mirror to see their wonderful creations. I am so blessed, and very thankful! I love the laughter of children!

Taking my dog for a walk on the Highline Canal. The sun was shining, the leaves were falling and the gravel was crunching underfoot. Lovely!

I'm just happy it's Friday today, plus a long weekend, and I'm going to my Mom's for Thanksgiving tomorrow - good food, family (although I'm not 100% sure I can handle them for the ENTIRE weekend lol - but they have a wedding a to go to) & my niece & nephew....all's good so far! As long as it doesn't snow buckets tonight, I'm good!

For me it is sunshine. Finally we have 60 degrees and sunshine out of two weeks of cold and rain. Supposed to be snowing by Saturday. Canning almost done and time spent with a friend. A farmgirl friend. Thank you God.

my simple joy is being almost done putting my garden to bed... just have to till and aerate the soil and throw in some organic matter.... it will feel so good after it's ALL done!
