Is anyone able to explain how farm financing is different from a regular mortgage? We have found our slice of heaven if we can figure out how to finance it now. any tips or experiences to share?

congrats! it looks like a beautiful location. i don't know how the real estate market is where you are, but be sure to price your house right, or even a little better than right. i only say this cause you don't want to be stressed out, it better to give up a few thousand for piece of mind. best wishes for the new place, again, it looks so pretty!

Im not sure how this all happened but I am so glad it has!

O Girl, do I remember that feeling! Not that long ago, either. It's just a a year and a half ago that we contracted on our own little slice. I can't say that it has always been easy, but I have not regretted it for one moment.

Congratulations and joy, joy, joy to you!

Almost forgot to ask, what is a farm credit bureau? I've never heard of this, is this something different than the normal credit bureaus? Do they still put from the same 3 credit bureaus? Sorry so many questions, just DH and I have been thinking about getting a farm in the near future once we sell our current house after the depression or whatever you want to call it ceases, that way we can put a nice down payment.

I just bought my slice contract for deed. It can be done if you can find someone who wants to work with you. :) The reason we were able to do this is that this house needs a lot of work and the owners didnt want to put anything into it to put it on the market. Its a little like camping...but I have a huge barn!

Not all those who wander are lost...
