Beverly, he told me he got me some silk from over there. Once I see it if I need some embellishments, can I send you some money or something and maybe have you get me something. I was thinking of making a small wallhanging quilt kinda like a crazy quilt with the fabric he got me and so I was thinking of maybe putting some stuff right from India to decorate it. I will have to see if he got me one big piece or some different pieces. I might have to change my plans if it is just one big piece. but, I can't wait to see it.!!

My son was in India for 3 weeks recently and he said it was a very interesting place to be. He said all the married women that worked were he had to go, kept trying to fix him up "cause he should get married and stay" that is what they kept telling him. He was very impressed with how they did everything over there. when he checked into his hotel, they took a picture of him and the next morning every worker there called him Mr. Chad and they all knew him and asked what they could do for him. He had a driver for everywhere he went. He is going to show me his pictures this weekend. can't wait to see him.
Joyce that is a very nice invitation as well as Beverly. Would love to see both places some day!!

Beverly - I just loved reading through the last two pages. Thank you so much for sharing pictures and information with us! I went to an Indian wedding from a co-worker about 13 years ago when I was working as a legal assistant. It was really neat!! I would love to go to India...and I will tell my hubby that we have a free place to stay :) :) You are very generous!! I don't have a lot of room in our new home (we are moving to Prince Edward Island in one month) but if you, or anyone else, wants to come visit me (think Anne of Green Gables, ocean...) I would be more than delighted to host you in our home!

Air purifiers do work. Get the ones that you can clean the filters, otherwise you are buying a lot of filters all the time. Just FYI

I am not sure how this happened but I wrote a note earlier explaining about another side of India..the poverty and the pollution. But the letter did'nt show up.
One way India is fighting poverty is by educating the women and girls.Teaching that they are equal to men.Teaching them to be self sufficient.
The pollution of the air at times seems to be getting worse despite the fact that the busses and cars do not pollute the air with fumes. The cars have to pass inspection on a regular basis that it is not polluting the air.
I intend on investing in a lot of plants to put n our homes to cut back on dust. We wil also invest in air purifiers for the most used rooms of the houses....will be worth the money. I will end for now.

Got married here....my brother , a minister married us in a very small wedding. His cousin came from California and then I had a few friends and close relatives come.
It was a beautiful stone chapel in a state park in New Jersey. When we went to India thee was a luncheon held in our honour.

Beverly, did you get married here or over there? One of my childhood neighbors married a girl from Kazakhstan. They had two weddings -- one here with his family, and the other one over there with her's. Quite different, because aside from the cultural difference of their countries, he's Jewish and she's Muslim!

Happy Day!

It's a very long flight over.....it knocks me for a loopl..............it really does. But Beverley you are more then welcome to come .....and if you don't know this to go to the dentist is cheap also. I had a root canal done for about $60.....top of the line equipment.....dentist was very on top...HOWEVER the darned receptionist / dental assistant left a lot to be desired.......she kept coughing. Yuk
As far as the trim and ribbons...I bartered with quite a few farm gals for that. Went over to Old Delhi down Bride Street to a shop I decided to go into...It was stuffed from floor to ceiling with ribbons, trims, etc. Have to admit. I was overwhelmed..
The reason they call that street Bride Street is that's where people go to get all the preperations for these huge elaborate weddings over there. The celebrations last for about 4-5 days. The invitations are hand delivered with usually a box of sweets or nuts and dried fruits. Its really interesting to see. These elaborate weddings. But no, I would not want such elabateness for my daughter.

It is like comparing apples to pears...........both have very different flavors to life.

It has been a rough time for me...so I will take it slow for a bit over there....then I do a lot of volunteer work also. .....hoping to do some entertaining of gals coming over.....have met and had 5 gals from the states come so far....It's fun for both parties.
I rarely had company here in the US.....too busy .
Anyway, have a good weekend everyone.

I apologize for not explaining better. We met in the states and married in the states.....only his cousin attended our simple wedding. IWe visited India about 2 years later.....then returning to the states . ....living a typical American lifestyle.
I loved work.....I worked 1 sometimes 2 jobs....and he also. The jobs I had were never easy.....except 1......the one where I coordinated wedding ceremony's part time after working full time another. The others were working as a nurse...or pharmacy tech.
We always scheduled so 1 of us was with the children while the other worked.
So now dear Beverley, hope you understand a bit better.

Beverly...well that looks anything but a Farmgirl Ranch. LOL Lovely Home and stunning daughter.

It is so neat that you openly offer your hospitality to anyone interested in coming. What a blessing
for those who may get to take you up on that.

Enjoyed reading this post!

No Beverley......I was a workaholic.....loved working and hated retirement.....but now enjoy retirement.

There is plenty of volunteer work that I get involved in over in New Delhi....but when I first get back I just want to relax to the max......get my hair done, get a masseuse to come in a few times a week, and go swimming.

I am considering not coming back for 2 years....but I am not sure....I love my roses here...and they took quite a beating this winter....so I am not sure.

I do intend on growing roses on my rooftop over there....that should be fun.

Have a good day
