Posted - Nov 02 2006 : 6:59:25 PM I just placed some bids on EBAY, YIKES!! One was for FORTY, YES FORTY, Ladies vintage hankies. One was for seventy, yes seventy children's books. The last was for a new Mary Engelbreit sewing basket. Well only one of these. oh I forgot to write the current bid. The hankies were around four dollars, the books were one dollar and the basket was around four. They are all in the bidding process for about a week, so I will probably get out bid, because I won't go any higher. But we shall see. I really shouldn't drink coffee after dinner it costs me to much money. I also ordered two used books from Amazon.I'am going to try very hard now to step away from the computer NANCY JO |

Posted - Nov 16 2006 : 05:58:53 AM OK, so I went on Ebay and bid on a lot of 25 vintage aprons. This a.m., there's a bidding war going on for them, and it's up to $107!! I'm out. I give up. Will head to Salvation Army later and hopefully find at least one -- and at 90 cents, a bargain!
Also watching a lot of Christmas aprons -- it ends in the next couple of days. Check it out! |

Oh no...I just had a terrible thought...you might have been bidding against each other! Well, I expect there's enough to go around for everybody!

Posted - Nov 16 2006 : 04:51:18 AM Bonnie, How cute, you do know that when you open that drawer they will fall out? OK. I went a little crazy on ebay myself, so when I get the things I won I will post a few pictures. What are you going to do with your new towels once you pick them up off the floor? I have so many pretty things that really serve no purpose but I love them anyway, my kids are going to have a lot of stuff to fight over someday, or maybe they will just give it away, saying what was Mom thinking when she bought this? I can't see your little bears face on the dresser but I bet he is cute, I can however see the sticker on his foot. Did you bid on anything else? NANCY JO

Posted - Nov 16 2006 : 04:39:51 AM Just wanted to share a picture of the towels I one. They are kinda different, but I thought they were cute. I was really pleased when I received them, the towel is an extra heavy material.

Posted - Nov 09 2006 : 2:21:54 PM This thread started on a Friday, so I was offline. But I have to say how much I LOVE EBAY! :) I'm a little kid in a candy store as big as the whole USA!!! Until I found this site, ebay was the only thing I liked about computers. I have collected anything pertaining to a Kentucky author named Annie Fellows Johnston(she wrote a series of girls books about 'the little colonel') all my life. Since I found ebay, I've gotten things I only dreamed about even seeing, let alone owning. I watched a show about ebay on PBS once and I learned how to wait until the last minute, pull my item up on 2 screens(minimize them both) and have one set up to bid at the last second and refresh the other one to see the current bid. Wowzer! I think I have auction fever! :D

Posted - Nov 09 2006 : 12:29:41 PM Well, Nancy Jo, you are a bad influence on me . The word "hankies" always gets my attention - my parents both have always used hankies and NEVER tissues - so I went on eBay and ended up bidding on and WINNING six aprons, assorted linens, doilies, an old fashioned sewing box crammed with goodies, and... oh, did I say "bad" influence? I meant "Great" influence! All this while at work! I think they thought I was excited about the project I was working on....![](icons/icon_smile_approve.gif)

Posted - Nov 04 2006 : 4:14:53 PM That's a good idea, Rhonda. We could wear white gloves and pretty hats too! Gosh, I wouldn't know how to dress myself! I bought a pretty blue toile (one of my fave prints) today in anticipation of my hankies. The creative juices are a-flowin'! Bonnie

Hahaha Nancy! Good answer! Bonnie your hankies are so sweet & pretty! I think we should revive the habit of carrying a pretty hankie just like we did the wearing of an apron!

Posted - Nov 04 2006 : 05:41:54 AM Nancy Jo, I have seen it done both ways. If the material of the hankie is dense enough, it is the square; and if the are more sheer you can applique them. I also have patterns to make a mantle scarf or table runners. Bonnie

Posted - Nov 04 2006 : 05:30:24 AM BONNIE, Those are pretty, How do you put them into a quilt? do you sew them onto the square or are they the square? So far my bid is still good on the hankies, so we shall see if I get mine. NANCY JO

Posted - Nov 03 2006 : 3:21:16 PM Oh.,Yes I love ebay too! I sell items & buy items. I also have a paypal account so I usually leave the balance there after I sell stuff & just use that for my purchases..I agree with Willowtreecreek always bid last minute. Ebay will even email you when an item that you are watching is about to end.. LauraH |
