Anne of Green Gables, Sarah Plain & Tall series are also favorites that I could just watch over and over.
Also love Remember the Titans, Hoosiers (married to a Hoosier so I have to love this!), Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, anything with Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart. |

Posted - Jun 29 2011 : 10:40:27 PM Oh boy, there are too many movies that I love to mention! My very top movies are: Titanic, Shutter Island, and The Breakfast Club. Then some of my favorites are: the new The Women, Where The Heart Is (with Natalie Portman), Fiddler on the Roof, Waitress, Bride Wars, 27 Dresses, both Legally Blondes, and 13 Going on 30. I have so many more, but those are what I can think of now! Jackie, the new The Women is about a group of 4 friends, who are all female. The main plot of the story comes from Mary and Sylvia, who have been friends since college. Sylvia finds out that Mary's husband is having an affair, and then Mary finds out. Later on in the movie, Sylvia, trying to save her magazine, tells a tabloid writer that it is indeed true that Mary's husband is cheating. The end is basically when they're all together as friends again. It's one of my favorites! God's and Farmgirl's Blessings, Megan

Posted - Jun 29 2011 : 7:02:39 PM Mary Beth - I'm with you on the original The Women - loved it. Top Three - Seriously 1. Out of Africa 2. Somewhere in Time 3. Always
One of my guilty pleasures is Legally Blonde. Something about it has me tuning in every time it comes on TV - that one and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Maybe they're just mindless romantic comedies that make me laugh. Oh - and You've Got Mail. Can't count the times I've seen it.

Posted - Jun 28 2011 : 7:23:43 PM I love The Women, the original version, also. And Lark Rise to Candleford is a nice series. I am a big Cary Grant fan and once answered a question in a party game, "which movie star would you most like to live next door to?" with Cary Grant. Much to my husband's relief! I like Arsenic and Old Lace, The Lord of the Rings, period films, Gone with the Wind, Eat Pray Man Woman. My husband memorizes all movie lines...I think to annoy me.

Posted - Jun 28 2011 : 7:23:35 PM Donna, you MUST see Downton Abby, It's an excellent Masterpiece Theater Period drama about the comings and goings of a british noble family and their servants. As the series begins, the family has just received word that the Titanic has gone down with two of their relatives. The family's big problem; is that the father married the mother for her money to keep the property going. Her money became part of the estate. They have all daughters and none of them can inherit, so one of the fellows lost on the ship was a male cousin who had agreed to marry the oldest daughter and solve all their problems, and now they have to face the money, the house, the titles all going to a stranger. It's very charming, and reminds me of a grown up "Green Gables" type show. (The story lines are a good bit more salacious.)
Let me see... movie bucket list... Washington Square (period drama) Young Victoria (best. feminist icon. ever.) True Grit, new one (Jeff Bridges does it even better than The Duke) The Big Lebowski, because being part of all of "the dude" *in* conversations is fantastic. Memoirs of a Geisha, to feed my love of Japan Drop Dead Gorgeous, Kirstie Alley and company are HILARIOUS as small town minnesotans dealing with an annual beauty pageant and people involved dropping like flies. ("ooo gawd, are we on cawps agin?") Marley and Me takes the cake for best dog movie Secretariat and Seabiscuit are my fave horse movies
Thats really all I can think of on the spot, I'm sure you gals will remind me of more amazing movies!
