Found!!!

Received a phone call early this morning around 6:40 from the Marinette Fire Department about a dog that fit the description of Truman. We flew out of the house and raced over to the department which is across the bridge into Wisconsin. We pulled up and they said that a dog had been skirting around the station overnight but would not let the firemen near them so they left him food and water at a safe distance behind the station and that's where he was. When Bruce rounded the corner of the house Truman started ripping in and out between his legs and wagging his tail. Bruce overheard one fireman say "There...Look at that!"

He is finally HOME! I am so grateful for all of your good thoughts and prayers that we find him and bring him home. My heart cannot express words to say how much it has meant to me!

Thank you girls!!!

Now, I think I am going to collapse on the couch and not move for an entire day....

Love,

Melody

This happened just two hours before Nan's graduation last night. We went to an apartment complex to check out a possible apartment for DD. We left Truman in our unlocked car with windows half/way up. He has never gotten out and has never attempted to do so. I really don't think he could since his legs are so short. But, there was a group of kids hanging around and I think they let him out. He is not familiar with the area, couldn't find us and I fear took off running. We searched for hours both before graduation and after the ceremony.

I am frantic with worry.

When I brought him in the house Elli as usual was parked in front of the computer...He looked away from the computer screen, looked at Truman and said "I HOPE you enjoyed your little "adventure!!" and looked back at the screen!"

Melody- I am so glad that Truman is home safe and sound. I am sure he is just so relieved and it will take him a day or two to be back to his normal self. Poor baby! I can't imagine how stressed out he must have been! Sky has only wandered away from home once and I was more frantic than she was. She was just around the corner and being loved on by a whole passel of kids. Sheesh! Traitor! She wasn't even worried at all!

The first thing Truman did when he got inside the house was plop on the couch and he DID NOT move. I went to the kitchen and made scrambled eggs and went to feed him, but he was so tired he could barely lift his head off the couch-He was actually still in a reclined position and would just turn his head to his bowl. He slept all morning and then early this afternoon I took our big copper boiler put it on the side porch and filled it with warm water. After I scrubbed him with my Peppermint soap I put a new collar on him and put his tags back on him (didn't do that after his last bath so he was lost without his tags.) He did have a micro-chip implanted when he was less than 4-months old, butI had a feeling he wouldn't let anyone close to him and thought because of that we would never get him home, but he's home!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the well wishes and prayers and kind words farm girls I am SO glad that I have friends like you who care about me and my family and even my little Truman.

Have a great weekend...

Mel

Those DEAR firemen were smiling ear to ear and I was SOBBING. I couldn't say a word. I submitted a letter to the editor later today thanking the dispatcher who phoned us and the fireman who kept Truman at the fire house until we got there. What a wonderful group of guys! Gentle giants in my minds eye and they should be praised more often than they are. When things settle down I am going to bake some goodies for them and bring it on over...

Oh my goodness! I am so happy Truman is safe and sound! What a smart puppy to go to the Fire Department! I worked with some firemen a couple of years ago and have found they are truly a kind, caring bunch. I know they were tickled pink not just for you but for Truman! Having a terrier myself I know what kind of trouble they can get into when they are left alone. Too smart for their own good! I'm sure he thought he needed to go find you! Glad he's home and you can stop worrying.

YAY!!!

I didn't post before but was sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

My ex-husband's new dog broke his leash when they were out walking a few years back and Peanut disappeared. We were out driving around neighborhoods looking for him and I was checking the shelters. He was tagged and microchipped. A whole week went by with no word. One morning my daughter and ex come popping into my house saying "He's back!" He'd been hanging around someone's backyard. They started feeding him and were finally able to get close enough to read his tags.

We felt so blessed and lucky!

So glad your little doggy is home safe and sound!
