Hi from Minnesota! And welcome in advance.
I live about 40 miles south of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul). I grew up in the southwestern corner of the state and helped DH's family with a resort "up north" near Bemidji. We've lived in MN all our lives and love it here. I like the variety of the seasons and we're close to family.
Do you garden? The south half of the state is in zone 4( minimum temperature of -20 to -30 degrees) and the northern half is zone 3 (-30 to -40). Rainfall and snow varies. The University of MN has a great extension department with agriculture and gardening info.
Mayo Clinic in SE MN is about the best possible place for medical care.
There's a lot of variation from the "north woods" to flat to rolling farmland to pretty rugged areas. The Twin Cities is a true metro area with orchestra, science museum, theater, art museums. At the other end of the spectrum are small towns and villages, some still celebrating ethnic celebrations.
