Hey girls...some of you folks have been requesting pics from Vi's party and I just got them from my father in law. He was diagnosed with colon cancer a week before her party and had surgery immediately, so he hasn't been feeling the best so that accounts for the delay...Still, he takes wonderful pictures, so I thought I'd share

This is Violet and her "Aunt" Cathy (and the Happy Birthday Banner Jus and I made for the party!)

Jus, Violet and I in the kitchen watching everyone come in to get their lunch

Too much Party, already!!!

Her lovely little cake (lemon cake with lemon curd and cream cheese icing)

Singing Happy Birthday (of course, I'm crying!)

Violet and her "Dada"

Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

Thank you, Karin!!! I'm so happy to hear from you! My friend, Julie, did such an awesome job on that kimono, and it so suited Violet with her "hooting" that she still does, even after all these months. The Owl has become quite the theme for this little girl!

Jeannie...I know! A year, already? The old saying, "time flies when you're having fun!" is so very true. Every day with Violet is a gift.

What lovely pictures! Her owl kimono is great, the picture of the three of you and the one of Violet with her dad are just so sweet. And that is one good looking cake for one good looking girl. Thanks for letting us see the big event...

jonni, jus and violet,
your pics made me and country just smile and laugh. sometimes i forget that we have never "really" met and are farmgirl sisters.
we think about yall and your sweet violet alot and love it when we get to see some pics of whats going on there. i hope if you ever come to texas you will come and stay at the farm.
we talk alot about coming to kentucky and going to miss wilma's gathering but i am still having some tune up work done and will have another surgery some time in the very near future. they promise me that when i have this repair done i will be fit as fiddle, i sure hope so. for the first time i am feeling a little bit tired of all this medical attention. i have to keep reminding myself that i am so lucky that i am not without insurance and wondering if i will get the services i need.
anyway, your pics were the best medicine in the world.

Thank you all, so very much!

Some of you asked about the cake...it was made locally, by a really wonderful independent organic bakery called "Take the Cake". They made our wedding cake, Jus's 30th birthday cake, my 30th birthday cake and now Violet's 1st. We thought about it, but I remembered, as creative as we both are, we are NOT cake decorators!!!

Our very talented and beautiful friend, Julie made Violet's kimono. Since it was owl themed, I found the fabric on Etsy and she whipped up a "sample" and made the dress from there. It looks adorable on her!

We did make the banner, so thank you for the compliments. Next year we will add "Violet" but working full time cuts into my "creative" time (and my cleaning time and my being with Violet time :)) so I just managed to eke out the Happy Birthday!

@Mary Jane...Violet is such a trooper--she wasn't overwhelmed in the least. We had about 30 people there and 7 VERY active 4-10 year old's, and Violet just wanted to be a part of everything. The only time she rested was in the pic on her daddy's shoulders :) She just sort of "powered down" like a little robot. Not a tear she all day and she went fast asleep that night, believe me!

Frannie...I was so happy to finally get these "up" for you. Time flies around our house and it's all I can do to sit still for 2 seconds together :) I'm so glad you enjoyed them...she is our world, that's for sure!

That will be a day you will never forget. You did a beautiful job on her cake and the whole party. She looks like she is having so much fun, not overwhelmed one bit. Some of the parties I have been too were so much the poor kids didn't know what to think of it! Me either lol!!Loved the close up of her smile and those new teeth!

Jonni, she is a doll! I can't believe she's already over a year old now. I just love the sleeping on her daddy's shoulder's picture. I have a picture of my youngest on her 1st birthday when she fell asleep in her highchair with her cake. Those are the best. Did you make her cute little owl shirt? And the cake sounds too yummy. You'll have to give me the recipe. Yumm!

Thanks, Kathy...that she is. Those "tufers" are coming in at great speed, now. The third one (you see poking through in the St. Patty's pic) is already through and now she's working on molars based on her chomping methods :) You are SO right about them growing too fast...
