Hello Farmgirls!! I guess I was just curious what people want to learn how to do. I'll go first!
1. Learn how to knit
2. learn how to make my own clothes
3. learn how to cook without useing a cookbook
4. learn how to draw
5. learn some more crochet stiches
6. learn how to paint
7. learn how to grow my own garden
8. learn how to make my own soap
9. I really want to learn to play the guiter and piano

And I think thats all. I may have to add more later.
Hugs,
Channah

Elizabeth(PrariePrincess)...Lasagna gardening is a type of gardening where you don't till the ground, you just layer hay, straw, newspapers, compost, chopped leaves, grass clippings, sawdust, wood ashes, animal manures, corn cobs, peat moss, chopped stalks, even kitchen scraps. Some people even start with cardboard as a base. It's also called layered gardening. You don't have to weed either.
For my Birthday my mom bought me the book: Lasagna Gardening from the publishers of Organic Gardening and written by Patricia Lanza. You can probably Google it. This will be my First year trying it. My DH is ready to give it a whirl. Some folk even layer their flower pots to keep weeds out.I'm all for that. There are probably some ideas over on the "Garden Gate" blog to help get you started. Good luck and wish me the same. :-)

Judy, could you explain what Lasagna gardening is? it sounds interesting!

As for me, i would love to:

get comfy with my sewing machine! Marcia, you sound like me... anxiety using certain "scary" tools! i think it's amazing you can make anything you want if you just become friends with that handy, dandy machine! i have a goal of making curtains and cabinet curtains this year for the kitchen, and alter some of my shirts to 80's style. also, hem my pants... i'm a short girl!

my dream is to make homemade cider when our apple trees get big and produce apples, which will be a long time. but the dream is there!

i want to get a goat or cow (right now, we may get a goat) and make homemade cheese, butter, and yogurt! then move on to soap and lotion.

maybe bee keeping someday.....

cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

knitting and crocheting this summer with my MIL as my teacher!

maybe become how to chase storms safely.... i became a storm spotter last year and was a weather assistant for 6 years in the navy, but the weather here on the edge of tornado alley has peaked my interest even more!

ah, so much to learn in a lifetime, but i'll start with this list....

I want to learn to knit, crochet and weave.
I want to learn to ride my mares and be balanced, when they are trained under saddle.
I want to learn to use power tools without *fear* :)
I want to learn to draw realistic horses and people.
I want to learn to make buttonholes on my sewing machine.. without anxiety hehehe.

Despite the things I can do, one thing I still need to learn more about it sewing. My mom was not big into sewing, and I didn't really learn much about it until I met my hubby - who taught me most of what I know (he learned from his mom). I can do basic repair and I've attempted a few quilts...but sewing from a pattern is absolutely foreign to me and I would love to make my own clothes!!!!!

You have me stumped on this one. I already know how to do most of the things you all have listed. I have in the past or do now, knit, crochet, quilt, make my own cloths, embrodiary, garden, can, cook, bake, make soap, play the piano, crafts of all kinds. Not that I don't want to learn something new, I wish for the time and energy to do all the above things and use up some of the supplies and stuff in my craft closet.

I am enjoying teaching the grandkids how to "all the above". They usually have to fix something on my computer while they are here. No, I don't want to learn more about the computer.
