Hello Farmgirls!! I guess I was just curious what people want to learn how to do. I'll go first!
1. Learn how to knit
2. learn how to make my own clothes
3. learn how to cook without useing a cookbook
4. learn how to draw
5. learn some more crochet stiches
6. learn how to paint
7. learn how to grow my own garden
8. learn how to make my own soap
9. I really want to learn to play the guiter and piano

And I think thats all. I may have to add more later.
Hugs,
Channah

If you can dream it, and if you are willing to put forth the work and effort, you can have anything you envision.

Hey Channah,
Great question.

This year I am taking on Multi-Medium art work. I adore Kelly Rae Roberts and she has a book called, Taking flight. Where she "breaks it down". She is also offering classes on her website www.kellyraeroberts.com

I am also learning Hand Lettering.. which I really love.

I am also returning to an old love... Making hats.

Circumstances made us FRIENDS; MaryJanesFarm made us SISTERS :)

I joined some swaps to give me some deadlines on learning some things I wanted to do..
I've done the first one (and it helped my stitching badge) .. making a pincushion! I did it! Finished it today..
So yes, I am wanting to learn how to sew. I started the hand sewing but need to learn machine sewing.
I also joined a swap for making dollys.... and that's my next one..
I used to draw horses... I got the things to do that and am going to pick it up again ...
I am trying to learn little things to become more self-sufficient... (ie. laundry soap, etc.)
I'd also like to be better at cooking...
I also want to learn how to sew my own clothing but that goes along with sewing!

I want to learn how to crochet a baby sweater! I have been looking and looking for a pattern with no luck whatsoever finding one I can understand. So, I am on the hunt for the pattern and then would love to learn to crochet it. :D

good thread! Channah, if you want help in learning to draw, the absolute best book I can recommend is Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" or "The New Drawing on the right side of the Brain" (the first one is an older edition)... each chapter teaches you step-by-step how to see the way an artist sees... I used her methods to teach art to homeschool kids, and saw some excellent results with my students' work! ...and after you learn how to draw, painting is only a natural next step!
...so here's my list:
I want to learn glass arts (fusing, slumping, lampwork, stained glass, etc.)
I want to learn metalsmithing
I want to learn to throw ceramics on a wheel
I want to learn how to weave large-scale (I recently learned inkle weaving and card weaving, but that is small band type widths)
I want to learn how to spin fibers (am starting this soon!)

That is a very cool website. Very pretty. If you're interested in mixed media type things, take a look at http://www.gallopingpony.com. Virginia Cole does beautiful work. I've been to two or three quilt retreats with her when she was just getting started with the miniatures. She's very inspiring.

Channah, you should write a book of questions. You ask the absolute best questions for a forum.

I want to learn how to crochet/knit.
I want to learn to ride a horse.
I want to re-learn how to play the violin.
I want to learn how to sketch. We have beautiful birds in our area that I would love to put in a sketchbook.

I want to learn how to spin; expand my gardening and canning knowledge & stretch my wings with my weaving. But right now, I just want to learn how to 'let go and let God'. A tough one, but I'm diligently working on it!!!!!

You have me stumped on this one. I already know how to do most of the things you all have listed. I have in the past or do now, knit, crochet, quilt, make my own cloths, embrodiary, garden, can, cook, bake, make soap, play the piano, crafts of all kinds. Not that I don't want to learn something new, I wish for the time and energy to do all the above things and use up some of the supplies and stuff in my craft closet.

I am enjoying teaching the grandkids how to "all the above". They usually have to fix something on my computer while they are here. No, I don't want to learn more about the computer.
