My husband is a town employee (in the landfill/re-use ctr), and with the benefits of that job, he brings home many wonderful things.

well today he brought home a 1951 singer sewing machine FOR FREE! The man who brought it in said it needed a little work, but that's ok. imagine how neat it would be to use?

Wow, that is so wonderful, that is the same as the one my Mom also used and I learned to sew on. Great machines to still be in use today. I am over 60! Keep that man....:D Oh, by the way, don't let Katmom near it!

I learned to sew on a machine like that in the early '60s. Any Singer parts should not be too difficult to find, but a model that age may not have a slanted needle, so you have to be careful with attachments. It's a simple machine, but a great find.
naturemaiden Posted - Sep 11 2009 : 3:57:31 PM
it needs some cleaning. sometimes my husband says he gets those treadle types in, now that would be awesome! are parts easy to get for this machine? i see that the person who owned it before has a service tag on it from a local person who works on machines.
