Do you all remember party lines? Our number was 6-W---when we asked the operator for a number, it was busy so we'd hang up....in a while the operator would call back nd tell us the ine was opened. Also, when we picked up the phone to ask for a number, we would have a visit with the operator before she would ring our number

2) When color TV came in

4) When the first TV was delivered to your home

5) "Winston taste good like a cigarette should a' TV commerical

6) Payton Place---real racey back then

The list is endless and I love this topic...Thanks for taking me down memory lane

i just love to hear people talk about how life was when they were kids. it's amazing to me just how different everything was! and how some things were way better (normal families eating dinner at the table together) and some things were far worse (outhouses). This is kind of like a free subscription to 'Remember When' magazine. It's a magazine who's pages are completely filled up with memories of days gone by. It's so fun to read! I'm not a subscriber (yet!) so keep these memories flowing!

My DH asked the other day about a commercial that was on during the late 50's & 60's..from one of the regional meat companies..I mumbled something about, well, it can't possibly be in business after all these years...

Then turned on a Los Angeles baseball game..an' sure enuf, the meat company (Farmer John) is Still A Sponsor!! Yikes!!

There were always so many jingles from advertisers in those years that lasted for what seems for ever. Now advertisers get thru one project, and onto another in about a week.

And I'm forever forgetting where my glasses are when I'm at my work table in the studio...but ;et me tell you, I can still remember some of the little songs from all those old tv shows!! Double Yikes!! LOL!

And speaking of our childhood toys being worth some money, today I saw a Howdy Doody marionette at an antique mall and the tag read: $145.00! OUCH!

Mr. Peabody was a dog who wore a bow tie and was smart like a college professor. He had his own 'boy' who he tried to teach. Mr. Peabody had a time traveling machine called the 'wayback machine' and they would have adventures together. They were both in the Bullwinkle cartoon show. :)

And another one from childhood. Marilyn Monroe was on tv alot and they called her sexy. I asked my mom what the word sexy meant....she said it's a bad thing...it means she wants other women's husbands! I'll never forget that!
How funny it seems now.

Some of you gals are older than me!! I barely remember Howdy Doody...and Clarabelle the clown.

My parents bought their first tv only because I kept talking about what the kids in school watched on theirs...Captain Kangaroo!
What about Elvis the first time on tv...I think that was 1955 or 1956. It was black and white and they blackened his waist down because his movements were considered too vulgar.
I saw it the first time when I was very young.... He was mesmerizing to me!

Also, when we had steak sauce it was called Heinz 57. I remember eating it one time and thought it was named after the year it was then 1957. lol

The lunch boxes we carried in elementary school are now valued higher than we are old! I remember picking out a new one every year and watching to see at luch what everyone else had.

toys I played with from the 70's and 80's are called vintage at flea markets (was it TAHT long ago!?!?)

I remeber watching the Monkees after school at friend's houses

We had a black rotary phone. It WAS heavy. Limited long phone calls w/ boyfriends due to my arm getting tired.

Your getting older by the minute when you can remember everything that you gals had mentioned. Does anyone remember ClaraBell, American Bandstand? Was it Troy Donahue who played on Rt66?

You know your getting old when you tell your son to rewind the DVD before he turns the TV off. How about those 8 tracks. I was uptown in my new 1969 VW cause my brother put an 8 track in it for my birthday.

Begin each morning with a song in your heart.
