I just came back from our little country store, I went after gas , OUT, the gas company distribitor called them and advise not to fill tanks before Monday seems as the storm has made the gas prices go up, she would have to sell for 4.69 a gal, Well thank you girl she told them to keep it, This makes me angry, our people are already having a tough time then they just want to make it harder for us, I still say dont buy unless its nesessary

I feel bad for the folks in Nashville, TN...there were a lot of stations that ran out of gas, including premium! At least 85% of stations were out of gas....amazing!

Hi Kris!

Thanks for the pointers! I actually just went out and tried it again. It has gas, all the wires seem to be connected. I tried talking to her.."Come on baby...come on, come on!..lol. It sounded a little better...I think. I didnt kick the tires though, as that would damage the pedi:). I had the gas pedal to the floor, and I probably still have the lines form the pedal on the bottom of my foot, I was pressing so hard!..lol. Anyway, I might try again in the morning...anything else I should try? (no hubby here...currently separated)

Jena, I drove a VW for years. If that baby doesn't want to start, it won't Talk nice to it, whack the battery a few times, open the engine door and wiggle a few wires, encourage it, kick the tires, too, that helps sometimes. Good luck!!!! I LOVE VW's. I would have anothwer one, but I think my husband might leave me.

Just my luck too, as I had all of my stuff for yoga, and work...I am trying to hurry, dressed in my gym outfit, and my bare feet. So, I try and try, it almost sounded like it was about to start, but I couldnt get it to catch! ugh! I might try it again tonight...any suggestions?

That is amazing! I can remember pumps being out of gas for maybe 24 hours. I really must say that it would be startling to see them be out for more than a day. However, if that did happen up here I would be all for finding alternative transportation or staying home!

I hope the situation gets better!

well, I went to church today anyway,,,,I knew I should use our gas for that ahead of other things. All along the road EVERY station was closed at the pumps. That was about 15 stations. And everyone is just riding around like there's no tomorrow! My neighbor asked me to go with her to Lowe's today, and we went in her car. The roads were full of cars zooming along! Folks do not remember what it is like to go without anymore. They are sure in a few days this will all be over. We will see. I hope they are right! Otherwise it is going to get ugly real fast.

We just got back from vacation, we left last Thur 9/4. When we left gas was 3.49 here in PA, went up to around 3.59 in the midwest (we drove to NE). When we left NE on Thur 9/11 we were shocked to see gas prices had risen to 3.99 aross the midwest. It was lower in Ohio, and when we got home we checked and it had actually come down here to 3.45 in that time. Needless to say we filled all vehicles in case it went up here over night. We assumed it had jumped in the midwest due to Ike, but we are really surprised it hasn't risen here, they usually take any chance they can to jump the prices....

You guys need to realize it's not just that oil companies are taking advantage of a situation; how do you think your gas gets to you? We're needing to ship it from the northwest to the south, and that costs money, which is why we're all paying more at the pump.

Hi Paige.... I feel your pain! Like I said, 12 gals. = $60. Outrageous! I have cut out any unnecessary trips anywhere. My new goal...put in a windmill for power, goats for milk, grow my own stuff, wood stove for heat, and anything else I can think of to get rid of the control of today's economy.

Thank God I live in the country!

This is sad. Jeremy and I went to Evasnville tonight. Out of the 4 stations we passed down there, 3 of them had regular gas for 3.99 the 4th was selling regular for 4.29! And to make it worse the over rated, outrageous station was only about two city blocks from one of the other station carrying gas for 3.99.
In Boonville where I live gas took another jump today. 3.99

As of today, some stations were out of gas but the lowest we saw today had jumped to 4.59!

Where I am you have two options, get gas for around 3.69 with a ten gallon maximum, or get gas for 3.99-4.23 for unlimited Gas.
I went ahead and gassed up, paying 100$ for 25 gallons. I may come to regret that, buying the higher gas, but it was a gamble I was willing to take.
I'll do my darndest to make that gas last until the 15th of October!

Gas actually came down 10 cents at one station in our little town today, although it had gone up 43 cents yesterday. I blinked twice to make sure I was reading the lowered price correctly. It will probably jump 30 cents next.

Girls,
Gas here in our little town is 3.99 a gal today. Friday morning when I went to work it was 3.53.
I am so thankful for the simple life and my heart goes out to those folks in big cities. It is hard enough living here in the mountains of KY could not imagine the cost in a big city.
I have been hitting every sale I can find stocking up for winter. I grew up in a family of 7 children so there was 9 people to feed. We worked so hard storing food for the winter. (I am very thankful for parents that made sure we had plenty to eat and also for them teaching me how to grow, can, freeze and dry foods for the winter. My parents were from very large families (10 children in my Dad's family and 16 children in my Mom's family) was use to having to store food) We only have one child and she is grown, so it is just my honey man and I but I still stock in tons of food for the winter. I have put corn and apples in the freezer. Also, a few packs of orka and green peppers for soup. I sure wished I had time to can tons of food like I use to. Oh well, just as long as my pantry in full we will be fine or at least I will feel better.

I wanted to till my garden this weekend to get it ready to plant greens. I had to go buy gas....12 gallons cost me $60! I about fainted. You are right, Jami. Oil companies making billions off the catastrophies of others. YET if someone else was doing the same, they would be arrested! I bought gas just yesterday morning at $3.65 gal. and today it is $4.79 and rising. What a scam! If I didn't have to go to work, I would boycott them all. I take my hat off to the smaller companies who refuse to gouge their customers and go without selling gas at all. I haven't heard one word about all the "damage" that has happened to the refineries in the Gulf. Amazing! One now thinks $3.69 a gallon is a steal because we are now conditioned to the higher prices. We are still getting pardon my french....raped!

Thank God I live in the country!

We went to town this morning just to fill up. I took our 2 gas cans (5 gal). Gas was $3.599. All the talk of the electricity going off down in TX made me want to fill my cans too. Our generator is a gasoline powered welder. The only thing we would run the generator for would be for the freezers. We'll protect our food, right after our lives. Well, then there is water, but it is raining.

No kidding! I think owning and riding a horse would be cheaper, even with hay prices being ridiculous right now.

Yesterday, I filled up for $3.54 across the state line in KY, we then traveled to your area Miss Wilma. We were only at the funeral home for 2 hours and then headed home. Gas had already jumped .35 cents a gallon in 5 hours. I had to fill up so I could get to work today. If I could keep a horse in the city limits I would be riding one to work instead of driving every day.

These prices make it tough for the farmers who raise food to keep farming. I was talking with a farmer last night about the cost of feed for his cattle. It's scary to think about where we're headed if something doesn't change.
