I was just thinking that with school starting up for many, the hard work in the garden, the hurricanes, and daily stress- perhaps it would be neat to see what was the best thing that happened to you personally this week?

Mine is:

Nora has been going through a phase where she was a bit less lovey and even more independent than normal. I didn't think she could get more independent- but she proved me wrong once again! LOL Anyway, I was playing with her the other day and made a point to hold her face still so I could snag a quick kiss. Now she is suddenly happy with sharing kisses again and grab my face so she can kiss my cheek. It's so cute! It makes my day when she is so lovey since I know these innocent days are numbered! Soon she is going to learn to talk!!

I went to my daughter's baby shower. It was a surprise for her---she has 2 boys and this one is a girl. The first girl in our family for 15 years and 8 for her husband's family. While there her husband came to load their things and out of the van jumped my 2 grandson's with open arms calling, "Grammy, Granny".

it doesn't get any better.

I have the best husband! He's the one that gets the strange look on his face when I mention the animals. Well, lately, he's been asking how they are! (He drives a truck and is only home every other weekend.) I told him we might need to make some kind of shelter for the pigs. It didn't have to be fancy because they aren't going to be around too long! Anyway, we never got a chance to do anything the last time he was in. So the other day he said when I was out to stop by the pallet shop and get same. We had 2 sheets of siding for the top and back already. So he helped me Sat. put up a pig shelter!!!

I love that man! He's so unpredictable.

I got three boxes of boys clothes from my bff's cousin, including a Carhartt jacket and a Halloween shirt that says, "I love my mummy!" Her kids are a year older than my Owen. It was so nice of her. I am going to send her something to say thank you.

There have been lots of good things...an abundance of good things...but one little good thing is a friend bought me a pair of zebra finches...the sweetest, tiniest, prettiest little things...and they woke me up on their first morning here "singing", and much to my surprise...they sounded exactly like my pup's squeak toy!
I haven't named them yet, but how adorable they are~
A pair of white canaries are next on the list...so soon I'll be awakened with singing AND squeaking!

I must have gone to ten yard sales this weekend, and I got lots of good stuff. I got a like new children's REI snowsuit for $7. A good condition Columbia sportswear kids jacket, snow bib for baby, for 25 cents, tons of good toddler clothers for 25-50 cents, a Pfaltzgraff christmas tree cookie jar for $2. I have never been so lucky at yard sales before.

My brother called me this morning to tell me that he got the results from his MRI. The doctor thought he had MS but he doesn't! Thank God! He does have a herniated disk in his neck which is pinching nerves and causing the numbness in his hands and legs. He will have to have surgery but we're just so glad that it's not MS (especially my brother) that surgery doesn't seem like a big deal right now. That new started my week off on the best note!

I would definitely have to say.....finding his website and magazine. Never in my life have I felt like I belonged somewhere with so many like-minded people. For once, I don't feel like I am a freak living in the wrong time zone. It is an honor and a true blessing to be part of a group like this. Truly!

Thank God I live in the country!

Amanda...I had a very similar scare about 10 years ago....and found out I have those too! I Was also told cutting down on some Caffeine might help. I know how scared you must have been....It really shook me up too!

Best thing that happend today was that I found out Hubby and I will be leaving on a little trip in the next few weeks to Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria!

My Grandmother has been in a rehab home for the last month--she is a cancer survivor that had an adverse reaction to chemo/radiation. So, she has been in "prison" (as she calls it) until yesterday!!!! It's so nice to have her home!!! We're so blessed that she is healthy again.

I am a babysitter and the mom bought me a new pair of shoes just because! What a great surprise! I love shoes and that was on top of my regular pay. So that was the good thing that happened to me this week.

What a wonderful quote! And I absolutely believe it's true. I've always felt very honored that my kids like me as a person and not just because I'm their mom.

The best thing that happened to me this week was an out of the blue call from my 90 something year old Uncle. He just called to say hello and to tell me he loved me. I was so touched...

I called my boss this morning for a random day off. She annoys me about some things, but she is great for working with you for days off, unless the crew is short handed. I got up this morning feeling like....ugh...I really don't feel like going to work... Amanda, I'm glad everything is ok. That's very scary, and I'm glad you addressed it! Glory, great job in the window boxes! I'm impressed that you did that yourself!

Another thing - the helanthis (I really need to learn how to spell that word) planted by my dad are blooming again! Last year they fizzled out and I thought they weren't going to come back. There are patches of them (also known as "Stairway to Heaven") throughout the garden. We just really got back into gardening this year and it's like my dad is smiling down from heaven on it. Pretty cool!

Ohmygosh! I am so much more out of touch than I realized. Will be posting more on this under "slow speed internet" in a few minutes.

Dawn, my darlin' girl! I love you back - but you know that already!

The best thing that happened to me this week was getting a phone call from Dawn, deeredawn, Dawn my deere. She called because as she was writing an e-mail to me her electricity went out. What she doesn't know is that I had someone sneak up there to cut the electricity so that she'd be so frustrated at having to rewrite the e-mail she'd just call me. Unfortunately the phone was in my purse which I left in the car while making food pantry deliveries but I sure had a big smile on my face when I saw that I'd gotten a call from her, Dawn, deeredawn, Dawn my deere.

Cutting of the mutual admiration society post now so as not to make anyone nauseous.

God bless -
Karen
