PHOTOS BELOW .. (WARNING ..NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR 'SIMPLIFY' KINDA' GURLZ .. MAY CAUSE YOU A THUMPIN' HEADACHE .. OR NAUSEA .. OR AT LEAST .. YOU'LL GET A GOOD GIGGLE OUTTA' IT!!)
I SENT THIS TO MY LIST OF 300 PLUS 'TRUE FRIENDS' LIST .. AND AM LOVING THEIR RESPONSES .. MOST ARE 'KINDRED SPIRITS' .. SO THEY WANNA' COME SHOPPE AT MY HOUSE!
LAWDY! LAWDY! i took 99% of the 'treasures' offa' the walls, floors, counter and cupboard tops .. (ha! there's still PLENTY .. IN the cupboards) in preparation for kathy to PAINT the walls (FLOORS are next!)
whatta' PILE of STUFF! and each piece, of course, had about SIX INCHES OF DUST on it .. it's a wonder we don't have asthma!
WELL .. i gotta' go through and clean every thing and then decide what goes back and what doesn't (HA! my attempt to simplify .. we'll see!) i was reading an article in Mary Englebreit's magazine about how she had a new house built and disposed of 9/10'ths of what she had decorated with in an attempt to down-size. Turns out .. it sent her on a shopping frenzy and she has more NOW than she did before! there is NO ROOM here for me to do that!
even though it looks like a big pile of mess (a la Sanford and Sons) .. there are some 'good'uns' in there! i guess most of it will end up at Glovers' Station someday soon. It will take me a month or more to go through it .. unless i chain myself to that room .. which i am seriously considering doing because of this hot-"HADEZ'-july we are havin' here in 'ole kaintuck.
this feels like the hottest summer i've had here yet!
well .. anyhoo .. i think i could get into Ripley's Believe it or Not .. or at least on the OPRAH show about being a 'pack rat'! (i SWEAR .. it is all soooooooooo charming .. when it is ON the walls!)
be sure to show this to your honey-man the next time he complains about "YOU HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF" .. HA! this will cure him!
for those of you who have SEEN the walls!!

i do giggle when you gurlz show your latest thrift store finds .. i did that for years .. and then it led to antiques shoppes .. and my love for STUFF!

this was my VERY FIRST primitive antique i ever bought .. thirty some years ago in Colorado .. it's a 'baker's table' .. with a zinc top. it has one HUGE drawer the size of the table .. for baker's pans, flour, rolling pins and such .. the zinc top always stays cool . for rolling out dough. isn't it wonderful!
got this fabulous general store scale (it works perfectly still) from an olde general store deep in the mountains of colorado.
this wonderful 'computing cheese cutter' came from the same general store! (it is long gone now!) it holds big ROUNDS of cheese .. you 'set the slice size' .. and the round wooden base 'turns' to allow you to make a precise cut.
these are three of my mos' fav kitchen treasures.

these walls were FULL .. so crisp now! (ha! probably not for long!)
there were two 'new' painted shelves above the 'hen laying box' (i keep cookbooks in there!
decided that this is where the stove will go! will probably either sell or just paint (barn red) the shelves and hang them on an outbuilding to hold plants and cool buckets and such!

VERY EXCITED .. about what we've decided to do with this stone chimney wall .. this faces into the kitchen .. it is the OUTSIDE all of the 'upper cabin'.
gonna' MOVE the oven/stove to t'other side of the room (white wall) beside the fridge. not sure why this wasn't done originally. i've ALWAYS wanted to open up that stone wall without anything in front of it!

didn't have to clear this wall .. cuz' i'm leaving the paint like it is here.
this one too .. have lots of my antique cast iron on these walls.
this one too .. WILL take everything off to give it a good scrubbin' though ... and mayhaps not put 'everything' back!

tina .. that will be adorable .. i have done that both with the 'plain frames' .. and also .. under glass .. the only drawback that i found (at the time) was that the frames take up more wall space .. sooo .. you can't get as many 'pretties' crammed on there .. but NOW .. i think i'd rather have LESS .. and choose only my BEST. i don't think i'm going to put the 'pretties' back in the laundry room .. want to go total primitive in there ... i think i'll TRY to stick to vintage 'laundry' products. YESSSS .. i will miss them .. but when i DO get that schoolhouse cleaned out .. i have tons of room in there to decorate.
wanna' see your framed clothes when you are finished.
and i am choosing (HA .. at THIS point anyhoo!!!) to look at this as a 'fun challenge' .. to re-visit treasures that i almost forgot i had because they were so crowded .. and since neither of my gurlz LOVE the primitive style like i do (and i was my youngest daughter's age when i fell in love with it) ... i will only save very special things for them .. love some of what i have .. and release the rest to the world through 'adoption'. (funny ... but i do not like the word SELL!)
don't want to do a lot of box-hunting, wrapping, post office runnin' and mailin' right now .. but eventually, some of the 'easier' things to box up and mail will end up in my 'mudpie manor mercantile' blogsite for 'adoption' ... might post some pics here from time to time .. and always to my 'true friends' list via e-mail.
well .. o.k. then .. what with all that said .. time to check out just how much FUN going through all that stuff is .. downstairs with me now! xo

sure makes a room look BIGGER when you 'de-wall' it! i only went from 'white' to 'linen' .. with one MUSTARD accent wall in our bedroom .. but oh my! the clean, fresh look of it! (it does make the floors look even 'shabbier' though .. can hardly wait to get those painted!)

doesn't a little paint do a world of difference though? I've been totally repainting our hall and entry way here..and it really makes a huge difference when you change a room color.
