Lyrics, what would it be? You can have a few:

Here a few of my favorites:

"Yeah, got a Caribbean soul I can barely control
And some Texas hidden here in my heart" Jimmy Buffett "Migration"

"I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
So let the winds of change blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living then live while I'm dead" Again, Buffett

Free and Easy Down the Road I go: Dierks Bentley

Pair of boots and a sack of clothes
Free and easy down the road I go
Hangin' memories on the high line poles
Free and easy down the road I go
Free and easy down the road I go

Ragweed's rockin' on the radio
Free and easy down the road I go
So I keep rollin' like an old banjo
Free and easy down the road I go

Got the sun shinin' on me like a big spotlight
So I know everything is gonna be alright

Ain't no tellin' where the wind might blow
Free and easy down the road I go
Livin' life like a Sunday stroll
Free and easy down the road I go
Free and easy down the road I go

If you only get to go around one time
I'm gonna sit back and try to enjoy the ride

I could make a million or wind up broke
Free and easy down the road I go
Can't take it with you when you go so
Free and easy down the road I go
Someday I know it's gonna take me home so
Free and easy down the road I go
Free and easy down the road I go

What are you favorites?

Aimee-- funny you should choose "Meet Virginia." When I first heard that song, it reminded me of my mother. She died at the young age of 47 (I was 25), but that song was SO HER!!! She died young, but she certainly did a lot of livin' in those few short years and every time I hear that song it makes me smile.

As for me, my "theme" song, now and forever is "Return to Innocence" by Enigma. Anybody ever heard it? The first time I ever heard it, it was at the end of an episode of "Northern Exposure." The parting shot was of Ed and his crane "Princess." He was teaching her the crane Mating dance. It was a hoot! But I LOVED the words to the song and the music is Native American and FABULOUS!!

It starts out with Indian voices singing in their native tongue (don't know which one) The lyrics are few, but they are powerful!

Love,
Devotion,
Feeling,
Emotion,
Don't be afraid to be weak,
Don't be too proud to be strong.
Just look into your heart my friend, that will be the return to yourself,
the return to innocence.

(native American singers on the chorus-- it's COOL!)

The return to innocence-

If you want, then start to laugh,
If you must then start to cry.
Be yourself, don't hide
Just believe in destiny.
Don't care what people say,
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and miss the chance,
you'll return to innocence.

(native singers)

spoken words--

It's is not the begining of the end.
It's a return to yourself--
the return to innocence.

I've made every effort to live up to those words, and I am LOVING life doing my own thing and being ME! I don't care if people call me crazy. After all, who can live MY life BETTER than ME?

And Jeannie, I love christian music too! It's the best thing when you're feeling down or have a lot of stuff to deal with. Mark Schultz is my FAVORITE!! I really like Chris Rice too. Hugs to you all~~ Tracy

I LOVE this one! "Canned Goods" by Greg Brown. I first heard it on Prairie Home Companion back in the early eighties.

Canned Goods
Let those December winds bellow 'n' blow
I'm as warm as a July tomato.

[chorus:]
Peaches on the shelf
Potatoes in the bin
Supper's ready, everybody come on in
Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
You can taste a little of the summer
my grandma's put it all in jars.

Well, there's a root cellar, fruit cellar down below
Watch you head now, and down you go

And there's [repeat chorus]

Maybe you're weary an' you don't give a damn
I bet you never tasted her blackberry jam.

[repeat chorus]

Ah, she's got magic in her - you know what I mean
She puts the sun and rain in with her green beans.

[repeat chorus]

What with the snow and the economy and ev'ry'thing,
I think I'll jus' stay down here and eat until spring.

[repeat chorus]

When I go to see my grandma I gain a lot of weight
With her dear hands she gives me plate after plate.
She cans the pickles, sweet & dill
She cans the songs of the whippoorwill
And the morning dew and the evening moon
'N' I really got to go see her pretty soon
'Cause these canned goods I buy at the store
Ain't got the summer in them anymore.

You bet, grandma, as sure as you're born
I'll take some more potatoes and a thunderstorm.

Peaches on the shelf
Potatoes in the bin
Supper's ready, everybody come on in, now
Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
My grandma put it all in jars.

Let those December winds bellow and blow,
I'm as warm as a July tomato.

[repeat chorus]

I love this.... .it is so fun! I am one of those people that "words" move me and when music is added.. well it is an added benefit... I think all of life has a sound track so it is so fun to see a little of each of you through the songs....

I remember when I was going through my early divorce. Married four years, no children (thank God) and was 23. It was then that Carol King's song, It's too late Baby was popular. Wow, did that ever fit my situation! So, Aimee, I know how you felt.

Oh, it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though I really did try to make it.
Something inside has died,
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it.

Songs can say so much - I now love Christian songs that fill my heart with joy. My life has come a long way, thanks to Him.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You.

The song by Trisha Yearwood "The Song Remembers When" always reminds me of my young days. There was a time when I rode through the Rockies, and sang to a song on the radio, and it did seem like Eden was just around the bend. I love that song. Here is part of it:

We were rolling through the Rockies
We were up above the clouds
When a station out of Jackson played that song
And it seemed to fit the moment
And the moment seemed to freeze
When we turned the music up and sang along

And there was a God in Heaven
And the world made perfect sense
We were young and were in love
And we were easy to convince
We were headed straight for Eden
It was just around the bend
And though I have forgotten all about it
The song remembers when

Wow! I haven't thought about a theme song in a long time. The last time I needed a song was when I decided to leave my ex-husband. "Meet Virginia" by Train. I needed an Ally Mc Beal moment. Something to boost my resolve. I was coming back from a funeral, when I realized I didn't even like the guy. This was the song to keep me straight.

She doesn't own a dress
Her hair is always a mess
You catch her stealing she won't confess
She's beautiful

Smokes a pack a day, but wait that's me, but anyway
She doesn't care a thing about that hair
She thinks I'm beautiful
Meet Virginia

She never compromises, loves babies and surprises
Wears high heels when she exercies
Ain't that beautiful
Meet Virginia

Well she wants to be the be the queen
Then she thinks about her scene
Throws her head back as she screams
"I don't really want to be the queen"

Her daddy wrestles aligators
Mama works on carbureators
Her brother is a fine mediator
for the president

And here she is again on the phone,
just like me hates to be alone
We just like to sit at home
And rip on the president
Meet Virginia

Well she wants to live her life
then she thinks about her life
Pulls her hair back as she screams
"I don't really want to live this life" no no

She only drinks coffee at midnight
when the moment is not right
And the timing is quite, unusual

you see her confidence is tragic
but her intuition magic
And the shape of body, unusual

Meet Virginia, I can't wait to
Meet Virginia, yeah yeah yeah

Well she wants to be the queen
Then she thinks about her scene
Well she wants to live her life
Then she thinks about her life

Pulls her hair back as she screams
I don't really wanna be the queen ah ah
I don't really wanna be the queen ah ah
I don't really wanna be the queen ah ah
I don't really wanna live here

This is one of those songs that no matter where I am, I think back to when I was a kid, married because I was pregnant and didn't have my own voice. I had to pull my hair back and scream to get anyone to hear ME.

Since them, "Wonder" by Natelie Merchant

"I must be one of the wonders
God's own creation"

What a line!

i'm split between two songs: "Goin' to Miami" by Will Smith......(it's from about 7-8 years ago??)I'm not into it as a steady diet because i genuinely enjoy a simpler life-style, but once in a while i gotta say....it's fun...."sea's so clear you can see to the bottom, $100,000 cars---everybody's got um!" I do love (occasionally!) those saturdays pulling up to the sandbar with our boat and just eating, drinking and playing loud music/partying....i love snorkeling....just looking at all the fish and sea creatures. then there is the other me......"the south's gonna do it again" by charlie daniels....some good old rock-n-roll!! neither song is "deep", meaningful or spiritual i suppose, but what can i say? i'm blonde!!

I am a super Broadway geek, and my favorite lyrics of the moment come from the musical "Wicked"...they are sung by Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch) and right now it just fits me!

I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down.

Dirt under my nails and weeds in my hair...don't tell me I can't dress up with flair!

It's been a long time, but we used to plant potatoes that way. Very easy to dig in the fall!
Now we have sooo many deer and turkeys around our house. Maybe someday again. Ardis

The chickens experienced their first bites of earthworm today, and I believe they liked it! Ew.

Ok..well having said that ( read above).. I will have to admit that I have been known to sing the following song at the TOP OF MY LUNGS on those less the perfect days:

I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe I'm an angel
underneath
innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved to see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
all rolled into one

Chorus:
I'm a [bleep], I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your health, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
and I'm going to extremes
tomorrow I will change
and today won't mean a thing

Chorus

Just when you think you've got me figured out
the season's already changing
I think it's cool you do what you do
and don't try to save me

Chorus

I'm a [bleep], I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
when you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numbed, I'm revived
can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

I was Country when Country wasnt Cool!

I remember wearin' straight leg Levis
Flannel shirts Even when they weren't in style
I remember singin' with Roy Rogers
at the movies when the West was really wild

And I was listenin' to the Opry
When all of my friends
were diggin' Rock 'n Roll and Rhythm & Blues
I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

I remember circlin' the drive-in,
pullin' up and turnin' down George Jones
I remember when no one was lookin'
I was puttin' peanuts in my Coke

I took a lot of kiddin'
'Cause I never did fit in
now look at everybody
tryin' to be what I was then

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
Oooh

(Chorus:)
I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
I was Country, from my hat down to my boots
I still act, and look the same
What you see ain't nothin' new

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

(Instrumental Break)

They call us country bumpkins
For stickin' to our roots
I'm just glad we're in a country
Where we're all free to choose

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

(George Jones)
Hey I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
Yeah I was country, from my hat down to, Whoa my boots
I still act, and look the same
What you see ain't nothin' new

Yeah, I was Country when Country wasn't coo
