So, I decided to go to the thrift store on my lunch hour, and didn't find anything (I know, hard to believe) and as I was leaving, walking to my car, a woman in an suv gunned out of her parking spot and hit me head on with the truck...my chest was level with the grill and she just kept coming. If had had on heels instead of these flat mary janes, I would have been a goner...I kept trying to stop the truck with my hands (but apparently, I'm not superwoman).

She finally stopped...said she saw me but instead of hitting the break, hit the gas instead. I had seen her previously in the thrift store, yelling at someone and she seemed...well, out of it--looked like, and don't be offended or angry with me--a crackhead. Sickly thin, tatoos, rode hard and put up wet (as my daddy would have said). But this thrift store is like that, so I didn't think too much of it.

My adrenaline was rushing, so I really didn't feel awful..just wanted to get back to my office or in my car so I could break down. After a brief exchange of "I didn't see you, I'm sorry, I kept hitting the gas!!!", she got back in her suv and took off. I stood by car and burst into tears because I was so shaken, and then a man and his son came over and asked me if I was alright...that they'd seen the whole thing and to please please write down her license plate number. She apparently, was laughing hysterically when she pulled away from the accident. So, I wrote it down, and took his name and number at his insistence, and then I drove myself to the police station.

My chest and my leg and side hurt, but not enough to go to the hospital (I don't think), but I went to the police station so that they would keep her off the road if she was strung out. The license plate checked out and they were going to the residence after I left.

So, anyhoo....I'm back at work and happy to be alive.

Oh, Jonni - I've been away for a few days and just got to this posting ... OMG, you are so lucky that you were not hurt worse than you were. And you were smart to go to the hospital to get checked out (or at least, you were smart enough to listen to your farmgirl friends and to your mother!). It's good to have that documented just in case something crops up later that can be attributed back to this accident. I hope you're on the mend now, poor Jonni.

Oh Jonni! I am so glad that a severe penalty was/will be levied against her. Perhaps it will sober her up a little bit before she gets behind the wheel again!

I know, right, y'all can't leave me alone for a minute!!! I'm feeling much better today, both emotionally and physically. Just needed a day or so to "right" myself.

Apparently, she was cited for leaving the scene, and driving (as I suspected) with a suspended license. Additionally, they had no insurance....not that it will stop her from driving again (because she was driving already with those issues) but it will make her come up with $$$$ or go to jail.

Goodness Gracious Jonni! I haven't been able to get onto the forum much lately, consumed with busy spring stuff, and I finally had some time to check in today and find out that you were hit by a car!! Thank God you are here with us still! You'll be in my prayers for not only a quick physical recovery but also an emotional one... I can't imagine how you must have felt either physically or emotionally! I would have been shaking like a leaf, how you managed to get yourself to the police station and to work amazes me... I'm so glad that you did go to the hospital and get checked out and that you reported the woman... I can't believe that someone would be so irresponsible as to just drive away immediately after causing injury to someone else! Hugs and Blessings to you... I'll be thinkin' of ya!

So glad you are okay. I can't understand some of the people that make up "humanity." Laughing hysterically when she drove off?! She had to be strung out . . . or demonically possessed. Hugs to you for making her accountable.

Jonni-

I am so glad that you are really truly okay! I think it is perfectly normal for you to have anxiety about driving and the damage that cars can do. I think it would do us all good to remember how much power we sit behind everyday- something that we sometimes take too lightly. *hugs*

Jonni,
I am so glad that you went and got yourself checked out. It is a good thing to cry. Honey, you need to let the fear and the stress of the whole incident come out. Sometimes after something like that happening our body just runs on pure adrenelin. You kind of have to decompress a little at a time. Try and pamper yourself and take a nice warm bath, relax with some good music, snuggle with your husband and fur babies. Whatever makes you feel calm and happy. You will feel better soon.

Hugs MJ

Jonni,
I'm sending all my most positive thoughts around what your boss finds out about the woman that hit you. At the very least she'll have to pay some sort of restitution I'm think. PLease keep us posted. I hope that there will be some tangible justice for you.
Hugs,
Linda

Whew! Take it easy today...these kind of experiences can affect us in so many unexpected ways. I am so sorry you had two more scary things happen. Things really do come in threes!

So glad nothing is cracked or broken. What a relief that you are basically okay. That crazy woman. How could she just drive away? Oh well, you are fine. That is what is most important.

Jonni, I just read what happened. I am so glad you are not seriously hurt. I also read all the others nice comments and concerns for you. It is so wonderful you have so many nice people worrying about you. That right there must make you feel better.
I hope you won't be sore too long. Take care of yourself.

Jonni, I'm so glad you got checked out and that you're fine. Take it easy on yourself. Your fears will subside in time because they'll have to in order for you to "march on" and I know you're not the type to just give up or hide. These accidents or near accidents are really hard on you right now because this is all still so fresh and you haven't had time to heal yet. You'll be ok because the love and support of your family and all of us will get you through this. Bear hugs.

Jonni, I'm glad your mom convinced you that a hospital visit was best and that you did not experience any broken bones. The reality of the whole incident and how precious life truly is would cause anyone to break down and cry. The most important factor is that your survived.

Hopefully the police will be able to stop the person who hit you from doing it again. Keeping you in my prayers and sending warm hugs.

Jonni, so good to hear you don't have any broken bones or worse injuries apart from bruises! I hope those heal super-quick for you. As for the emotional part of it, you're still in a bit of shock, I'd guess. I would be, anyway, if I'd been hit by a car!!! I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers still, hope the police take that woman seriously--it could have turned out far worse.

Hugs!!

Good morning, girls...I just can't convey how much I adore all of you, and how much your concern and good wishes have made this, rather strange unexpected thing feel less scary. We got home very late last night from St. Elizabeth and other than being very bruised (ribs, side, thigh and shins), I'm a-ok...well, at least physically, for which I'm beyond greatful.
Emotionally, I'm a little shaken, I have to admit. I did NOT want to drive home yesterday--now, how being hit translates into me not wanting drive, I don't know, except I think it actually registered how much damage these things called "cars" can do! I had to stop at my bank, which is where I was headed when she ran me down, so after work, before the hospital, I went quickly inside and when I got into the car to back out, I saw a mother and her daughter, and I overheard her yelling at a child...who had run BEHIND my car while I was getting ready to back out. He was level with my tailights on my Civic, so he was very small, and I just sat there and balled like a baby. I could have hit him, too....and then on the way home, traffic was stopped on the expressway because someone had just hit a very beautiful red hound dog in the merge lane, and I saw him lying there and I had to pull over. And I cried again (for the pup this time)...Justin met us at the hospital and I broke down there too....Patricia is right, crying did help--an amazing release. But, the racking sobs did nothing for my bruised ribs :)

I am waiting to hear what my boss found out about the gal driving the suv. My guess is she's probably driving on a suspended license--don't know what the police will do except to cite her for those types of offenses, but it clearly didn't stop her this time!!!!
