Ok, here is how this is going to work...I will start. I will write 7 random things about myself and I will choose the next person I tag. They must write 7 things about themselves, posted in this thread, and tag the next person. It is up to you if you want to email the person to let them know they are tagged or just let them have the fun of finding it here!!!

Here we go....

1. I do not like coconut or sushi, they both make me gag. Fancy food is not my thing either.

2. I secretly wanted to be an actress or a designer when I was little. I even checked out book from the library and "practiced" in my mirror for my "CLOSE UP" I would also steal from my mom's cloth pile to make dolls clothes and design dresses.

3. I am orginally from CT but tell people I am from Texas. I truly found a place I fit in. And yes, I am even developing a 'twang that I love.

4. I have a love of clothing and have one huge closet filled with clothes. It is my gazingus pin so to speak.

5. I am never late. In fact, I am always early and properly prepared for any situation that may arise. Drives DH nuts!!!

6. I like the taste of a ice cold regular 'ole Coke.

7. I love to watch the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, the PBR and I love FOOTBALL!! Probably more than most gals you know...

Who is next??

I pick (This is randomly done by DH...so it is fair!!! ) LOL

Miss Bee Haven

Cheers,
Heather

wow, first i have loved reading all the responses from everyone.
let's see:
1. i am absolutely afraid of flying and have never been near an airplane. i am a huge homebody and dont get off the farm for weeks, but if you go on a trip, i LOVE looking at your photos and hearing all about your travels.
2. i love music and was a bluegrass singer for about eight years, we played on shows with the original dixie chicks and once emily, the banjo player followed me around at a show and said "i love the way you sing"......she was just a youngun then.my dh and i still have a "porch band" and we meet every other week to play music and sing.
3. my dh is a freelance music writer for a texas music magazine and
has been for 20 years, so sometimes when he can get me off the farm,
we get to go interview music folks and meet them. last time i wouldnt go i missed out on meeting john corbett(corbin) the guy who played carries boyfriend on sex in the city. my dh assures me that he wasnt that cute
4. my first husband , divorced me and eventually married a girl one year older than our oldest daughter, that can take the wind out of your sails.
5. i survived a car jacking at gunpoint 10 years ago.
6. i have 2 degrees, one in music therapy and one in occupational therapy, pretty smart huh?...and i still cant balance my checkbook!
7. i'm from the anne frank school of life and basically believe, in spite off everything, that people are basically good. .....especially if they are farmgirls!
i tag grace gerber

love

Oooooooo, so much thinking for a Saturday morning!! Let's see - here goes.

1. I took accordian lessons for about 10 years when I was a kid (it was my parents idea!) I got to be pretty accomplished, and would love to pick up an accordian and try it again.

2. I have a secret (not any more!) ambition to be a bluegrass fiddle player. I bought a fiddle at a flea market in San Francisco, and I'm trying to learn a little from a book.

3. The biggest inspiration in my life has been my maternal grandmother. I grew up next door to her and my best memories as a child center around times at her home. She taught me to knit, crochet, and to make the best of what I had. This amazing woman bore 12 children in a rough time in history and did it with a smile and with grace. I loved her dearly.

4. I met my husband on the school bus when I was 14 years old. He had a girlfriend at the time, but her stop was before mine and as soon as she got off, he would come and sit with me. One day, in a moment of sheer abandon, I grabbed his hand! He broke up with her (the minister's daughter - we all know where I'm going now!), and we've been together ever since.

5. Finding MJF was like a lifeline to me. I have always felt like I didn't fit in, with my down home ideas, loving domestic life, etc. I came of age in a time where women were really flexing their newfound independence and EVERYONE had a career outside the home. I used to feel defensive about it, but MJ has shown me that I should be PROUD of it.

6. OK - this one I could get in trouble for - Mr. and Mrs. Allwine, it was Suzanne and I that started the small fire in the chicken house in 1962. Greg, Suzannes older brother gave us a cigarette and we were trying it out and caught the straw on fire. It could have been worse ok?

7. I used to be an only child, but no more since I now have hundreds of farmgirl sisters.

Ok Texas Frannie - tag you're it!

1. I think I sorta have a smidgen of face blindness (if that’s possible), which is good kinda because I can’t ever judge a book by its cover! When my first husband came home from donating blood, he said he’d passed out and face-planted into the bowl of “recovery” cookies. Two days later, I said, “you’re still looking pretty pale.” He pointed out that three days earlier, he’d shaved off his beard. I can never recall whether or not a person has facial hair, glasses, the color of their hair, etc. It just doesn’t register but a person’s essence sure does!

2. Huge fan of Oprah. I think she has done more to improve the lives of people than any one person I can think of. She’s a one-woman revolution. When I get the opportunity to watch her show, I keep lots of hankies handy.

3. Love to read the New York Times Newspaper from cover to cover (way out here in Ideeho) even if it does arrive three days late. I always hit it so I buy a month’s subscription half-off, making it cheaper to subscribe to than my local newspaper. I love their magazine, the book review, the arts section, and their detailed features. Also love National Geographic…for traveling to far-away places!

4. Meg and I spend time on the weekends at my 96-year-old father-in-law’s house taking care of him and … HE HAS A SATELLITE TV!!! When we first watched America’s Next Top Model we were all indignant. Now we LOVE it. We sit with little Stella and eat a huge bowl of popcorn and cheer them on. I love the guy who teaches the girls to walk the runway. Ca-UTE!

5. My favorite breakfast is fresh grapefruit peeled and cut up into little chunks tossed with fresh diced ginger and garlic and maybe some fresh turmeric when I can get it with a little salt sprinkled on. I think I’ll live to be 100 eating such a bizarre concoction.

6. I solve all my problems in the bathtub.

7. My favorite reruns are the Lawrence Welk shows--fond memories of how much they delighted my grandmother and mother.

I tag MIKESGIRL. You're it!!!!

I just noticed this - thanks for the tag, Heather!

1. I don't really like the 21st century. Besides the medical advances I could do without the more modern things. I'd be happy with a horse and buggy (most days!). But, I must admit, I do have a dishwasher, microwave, etc. It's just that I think we, as a society, want "more, more, more".

2. I am very frugal. I antalize everything before buying it and buy whatever I can used (except for underwear, that has to be new!). I frequent garage sales and thrift stores.

3. I love, love, love to read and write. I have a few penpals that I have been writing to for years (10+ years). I love to receive mail and I love pretty stationery and cards. I also free-lance and have been published in various magazines. I have shelves of books in my house and I love used book sales and paperbackswap.com

4. I love animals but am restricted with how many we can have since we live in town. We have two cats and a kitten and a big St. Bernard/German Shepherd dog. I would love an English Bulldog but think they are too expensive and they have been bred into too many health problems.

5. I am a hippy of sorts. I don't buy into the latest fashions and I am the only one around this neighborhood that hangs out laundry, uses cloth diapers, has a garden, has a compost bin, makes my own cleaners, etc.

6. I love to sleep!!

7. My favorite season is spring and I so ready for it right about now. I also hate daylight savings time when we have to turn the clocks behind...it gets dark so early.

Well, dare I tag MaryJane Butters? You're it!!

Thanks for tagging me, Sheila!
Here are 7 things about me:

1. I have 2 sons, Tate who's 3 and Sullivan who's 1; 12 dogs, 15 cats, 4 mini horses, 13 pygmy goats, 9 ducks, and many chickens.
2. I love just about any crafts- cross stitch, quilting, tatting, sewing, scrapbooking, and I'm learning to crochet.
3. I love to read and use to do a lot of writing- I would like to get back into writing, maybe writing some children's books.
4. I am a SAHM and raise Shih Tzus and Shelties, plus pygmy goats and I want to start selling at farmer's markets this summer.
5. I want to have a good sized garden this year, and actually keep up on the weeding! I already have rhubarb, strawberries, chives, blackberries, and raspberries, plus an overgrown herb garden that needs a little TLC. My garden was terrible last year and my herb garden ran away due to the fact that I had a baby.
6. I want to learn to ride a horse and teach Tate to ride as well. I worked on Tate a little bit last year with one of our minis that's broke, but he was pretty scared. Maybe this year since he's a little older.
7. Our hobby farm is on 5 acres in eastern Iowa. I have been busy planting trees since we moved here in 2003. The area is kind of flat, with nothing but fields, so I wanted to create an area with a lot of trees. There were already some walnut, oak, and dogwoods planted, so they are getting taller. I have planted willows, lilacs, maples, oaks, serviceberries, dogwoods, pine, chokecherry, and Rose of Sharon trees.

I tag Elizabeth (babysmama).

Whoops, I just realized I needed only 7 things. . .I guess I wasn't paying attention, and was on a roll when I posted 10 things. Oh well, bonus!
SheilaC Posted - Feb 10 2008 : 11:07:21 AM
Bonne tagged me, so here are 7 things about me:

1. I have 3 kiddos (7, 5, and 3), a husband, a dog, 13 chickens, and 2 cats
2. I'm on the school board at my kids' Christian school
3. I'm a stay at home mom with 3 little jobs (babysitting, bookwork for my husband's fish farm, and machine embroidering onesies)
4. I LOVE NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!! (no, not the city, the less populated areas). My husband and I both grew up in western NY and hope to return to the area someday
5. If not western NY, the Adirondacks (we lived there for 3 years)
6. If not western NY or the Adirondacks, then central NY.
7. We live in Ohio, which is nice, but. . .not NY (I'm really NOT obsessed, NY is just a great state to live! It's also near family, which counts for a lot)
8. I have a BS in biology and an MS in environmental studies and it drives me
ABSOLUTELY CRAZY when people say things like, "doesn't it make you mad that you're wasting your education and JUST staying home with your kids?" (and it still surprises me, though I've heard it many times, that people would dare to say something like that out loud!) Well, the answer is NO! I'm blessed to he able to! And if they know a bit more about biology/the outdoors than some kids, well, all the better! There's nothing wrong with that!
9. I really want to become a great gardener (my second year with a garden!) I wish I had a mentor or something!
10. I want to learn how to make soap! (and my husband wants me to also!)

I'll say I'd like to tag PlumCreekMama, since she always answers my chicken questions! Thanks!

I don't know how to email her to tell her she's tagged, so if anybody would like to notify her, that'd be great! Thanks.
